Am I right in thinking there's a second chance at this lotto at some stage? Does anyone know when this is?

More entries *may* be drawn in October, if I recall the website correctly

They also said that was a possibility last year and it never happened, so don't hold your breath.

What a shame. I had no luck again this year and it's my tenth time applying. My sister and a friend both got it the first time applying and never bothered to use it. Such a waste.

I am hearing, due to the possible new immigration bill due to be passed, that there might not be a lottery this term? - i hope thats not the case :(

Any confimrations on this? The H1-B work visa is already full and not re-opening until the end of October 2014 if you are lucky enough to get one!

My understanding is that this year will definitely go ahead, but it may be the last one.

    Hi all.

Is anybody aware of a good photo place down in the Laois/Carlow/Kilkenny region that can do the photos for the visa?

It would be so much easier than making the trip to Dublin.

Obviously they have to be spot on or its all a waste!

    Thank you :-)

Is it next November when you find out? and how long do you have to activate the visa after you receive it?

Is it not just standard passport pictures needed? Or is there a particular place in Dublin that does them?

Its not a standard passport photo & I'm finding it a bloody curse tbh I can't get past the bloody photo validator to make this years application! Can't ever remember having this much trouble or even having to put in photo. My passport & driving livence are both new this year & scsnning photos didn't work, tried old ones, new ones, my work electronic id photo, going to try specialist camera shop & bring the specific dimension requirement with me

Didn't realise it was so much hassle..if you do manage to find a place that can do the pictures can you please post it in this thread? :)

It could be just me or the software I'm using! has to be square, unpixelated, 70% face (?!) neutral head & shoulder shot unlike our full face passport pix. I posted wondering if anyone else is having problems.

I got mine done last year in the camera shop on Grafton Street (St. Stephen's Green end, same side as Disney shop), cost about €20.

Is there anything to stop me sending the same pic this year?

They usually say the picture must have been taken within the previous six months (or perhaps it's twelve - can't remember off the top of my head but they do specify a timeframe, and it's definitely less than a year). So if you've previously submitted it perhaps they are able to register that it's a re-use. But I don't know!

I sent the same picture again with my application this year. Hopefully it's ok!

Just sling a white sheet up over a door and just have someone take the photo from where your arms and shoulders meet and up. That's what I do every year anyway. No need to pay someone 10 or 15 quid.
