Indoor plants

    Looking to get a plant for my room to freshen the place up a bit. Room is at the back of the house and doesn't get much sunlight. Any tips on a suitable plant, preferably something low maintenance?

    I don't know what type of plants you like, but I've always found it hard to kill a spider plant.

    My god, that sounds like a challenge!! I accept! :D

    Just googled spider plants. They look ok, I might get one of them then. It should survive aswell without massive amounts of sunlight? I suppose I could just give it a bit of time in another room that gets more sunlight every now and again.

    Well, I have one on the bathroom window and one on the kitchen window, neither of which are super-bright, but they're not exactly dark either. Other plants that are good for shady locations are ferns, and any kind of woodland plant (cyclamen, begonia). Most will have a label that should give you information on where they'll grow.

    The only downside to spider plants is that as soon as they settle in they start to make more spider plants as quickly as they can. I could almost start a spider plant specialist shop!

    Great link kylith, thanks!! :) It gives a list of the best plants for low light which is what I want and I found the below one on plantlife.ie which I quite like.

    I'm gonna get this and see how things go. I'm hoping it will freshen the place up a bit and I'll probably look to add another if I deem it a succesful purchase!! :cool:
