    Hi there,

So, I've just got an iPhone 3GS and I'm getting to know it.
Sometimes on the top left of the screen,to the right of the O2.ie, there's an E. It's never there at the same time as the 3G icon or the wee wireless fan.
Can anyone telle what it means?
    Thanks,
    L-M.

When you lose 3G coverage signal the next step down is the dreaded E. Living in Donegal I see the E dozens of times a day. If you go into settings and turn off 3G you will see the E all the time. I'm sure someone will very quickly te you what it actually stands for.

    It's O2's 'Edge' network.

And be happy you have it, because if you were on Vodafone all you'd have is GPRS when you lose the 3G signal.

And just to confirm...when I lose my 3G signal with Vodafone and I'm left with GPRS...that shows up as a little blue ball in the top left corner??

You could also see a little blue ball on O2, when Edge is not available. Should be a relatively rare occurrence though.

Edge is only dreaded when compared to 3G, it is a bit better than GPRS though.
