Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Quick question for someone in the know. I've a Mazda 3 Touring Model,1.4,just under 50,000. It's missing the hub on a mirror, was keyed down one door and has a few other scrapes and scratches-superficial stuff only. The car has never been a problem,I'm the only owner.

Anyway I'm looking to sell and have been offered 5k - is this a good deal? I see other similar makes, models and mileage on carzone for 8-9k but these are from dealers and without damage.

    All comments welcome.

What year is it ? Keep in mind any car on a dealers forecourt with €8000 on it the person who traded it in wouldn't have gotten that for it. They may think they did but there would have been room for maneouvre on whatever they bought.

If the 5K is someone taking the car off your hands and you are then planning on buying another car as a cash customer it is not a bad deal once you buy wisely by getting a fair wack off the screen price of the next car. Eg next car RRP at €12000 and you get it for €10500 cash, you could then argue that you really got €6500 for the 3 if you see my thinking, that's not bad considering the 3 is somewhat short of retail off the forecourt condition as she stands :)

Also you could try and get €5500 off the person offering you €5000, they probably want your car, want is a powerful emotion.

I'm no expert on Mazda 3 values, but 5k sounds a bit cheap to be honest.

I thought it was low too but really have no knowledge of cars bar comparing prices on carzone.ie and I also have to take into account the scratches!

Did you try getting a price from a body shop on repairing the scrapes/scratches? If it is not too expensive it might be worth getting them done and then look for more for the car. Unless the car is very tatty I would think €5k is very low for a 4 year old Mazda 3.

Maybe though posting a few pixs of the car might give us a better idea of it's value.

    Thanks for that-much appreciated

Book value for an 06 Mazda 3 1.4 Touring with 69,000km is €9,000 - so €5,000 is too low.

I do think €9,000 is a bit on the hopeful side, but €6,500 - €7,000 would be about right.

Thanks R.O.R - all signs pointing towards it being a bad deal. I suppose I wanted to sell it without having to put the money into fixing the scratches. Thinking I'll have the scratches fixed - probably the bones of €1000 - and then try and sell it myself via carzone.ie.

    Thanks for all your help.
