Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Good-as-OEM Bluetooth install?

I know there's been a few bluetooth threads recently but I'm still none the wiser!

I want to install a Bluetooth handsfree kit with A2DP MP3 streaming into my car. I want the install to be as OEM as possible - completely invisible: no remote, no visible microphone, no screen. I also want the install to hook up to my steering wheel controls (for both music and phone). I'm thinking of putting in the iO Play kit (available for about €70 on Amazon) as it's cheaper than the Parrot MKi9200 and I don't want the screen anyway.

Can it be done? The whole ISO/SOT/telemute/delayed mute/switched ignition etc lead alphabet soup leaves me scratching my head! This seller on eBay sells leads which he seems to claim are superior to using standard ISO leads etc. Anyone any experience with these?

I'm also after the 'holy grail' if possible - is there a lead which will allow the kit's phone/music data to be displayed on the car's dash info display (which is physically separate from the head unit).

Finally, is it possible for an 'amateur' to install all this? I'd probably be happy enough pulling the radio out and connecting leads etc round the back but would probably draw the line at removing trim. Note that I will not install the microphone if I can get away with it - my phone is normally perched on a dash holder which should be fine - unless the caller would get blasted with their own echo through the speakers?

Car is a 2008 Citroen C5 with the 'standard' audio setup (no extra amps etc) BTW.

    Cheers!

I wrote this how to when I installed a nokia CK300 bluetooth kit in my car (with pics) it can also stream music over the bluetooth connection provided your head unit in your car can support it.

The only visible bit of kit is the small control panel for answering the call etc in my install. I hid the microphone in the light in the headlining (same place the factory fit it). I found that using the original nokia mic that it didnt fit properly and picked up a lot of vibration and noise from the cabin. I bought the VW OEM mic and swopped the small electronics PCB over to the VW OEM housing. Audio is much improved and its sits properly and its right over the drivers head.

The Nokia Kit includes the telemute lead, and once you have a bit of cop on regards wiring diagrams and neat is possible to do your self. The Nokia kit cost 100euro off the web (think it was expansys i bought it from).

Regards retro fitting into citroen your going to need a specialist wiring loom to integrate into your existing vehicle electronics to allow steering wheel functionality. Might be better to look on the citreon enthuasists fourms to see if its possible.
