Either this is an early april fools or the most well known and respected third reich militaria site on the internet just closed itself down !

This guy provided a coa with items he sold and they were almost always known to be correct and accurate.

Hugely respected for his reasonable prices and integrity.

Very sudden. Part of my Friday routine was logging in religiously at 1.00 to drool...
Wonder why? Normally there's a "closing down sale" a la Kai Winkler...

Never dealt with him myself but I was always intrigued how opinions on him varied. The Militaria Collecting Forum had for a long time a sub-forum dedicated to alleged fakes sold by him yet others on the same forum would be including him on trusted dealer lists.

I bought several good items from D.N. , he was honest and could be trusted.

It is a shame he is gone. I think he brought a level of professionalism to the hobby that was badly needed.

Of those who are left my votes go to:

    Klaus Butschek,
    Rick White at historical media,
    also militariarelics.com
Also Jannsen militaria are quite good.

Most of what I have brought in recent years has come from other collectors. Galien David is pretty good but I find most Uk dealers just too expensive.
    ( Some insanely so).

I fully agree that Detlev N. had a very good name and I always found him very good to deal with.

I recall a conversation with a collector / dealer at Bangor a few months back the gent claimed that DN sold quite a few fakes as IHO the level of DK's in Gold and RK's that he had up for sale could not be sustained so "some must have been fake".
( I reflected as he said this that he was selling some damaged DK's and RK flags for much more than they were worth , all of them in rather poor condition.)

1.00pm on Friday - a good memory and sorry to have it no more.
