The 15% off weekend deal at B&Q is no longer on, so the price of the Ross Kit is back up to €87-ish today.

Hmm I may just pick up one of these... Have a spare sky dish on the roof and would love to get HD channels for my TV without paying the price for sky's channels..

You'd be better off with an official freesat receiver, it would cost you less or a little bit more and save loads of hassle scanning re-scanning and deleting crap channels

Board members get the Freesat DSI86HD receiver for 99.95 euro - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055917856

I don't agree with you. this box from RS is 99 GBP + 11GBP delivery so that's 110GBP (not euro, which is 128,7 euro regarding to google).
The only advantage of official freesat box is 7 day EPG.
Moving channels around is something that I would do anyway (and if there is no way of doing that than it's crap).
So I think that B&Q kit (tuner + dish) for 86€ is a lot better value than DSI (box only) for 128€ (delivered).

Thanks for picking up on the pounds not euro , makes a bit of a difference alright !

Saying that I'd still suggest a freesat box over free to air, the 7 day EPG and the lack of a planner may not be a big issue for you but it is for many people.

Also pointed out in another thread in the bargain section was that Argos in the North are selling this - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5321564/Trail/searchtext%3EFREESAT.htm .

Thats not true. Freesat will automaticially add a new channel, update firmware and it also allows the use of red buttom interactive features.

I was in Homebase Limerick today, same kit is €113!...10% off marked price, was €150 down to €125 + 10% off that!.....had 3/4 kits that was near the customer service desk.

    I picked up a lamp shade marked down from €10 to €5 + 10% off that! :-)

Errr Richard Dower take it back! I picked it up in Mahon Point Cork today for €86.45

    Edit:

I'm very pleased with the Box and although after updating the firmware to get HD ITV, the HD recording has lost it's sound I've got a few more channels out of it and I'm delighted with how quick it is :)

That Bush box is not available anywhere, I did pick up the Sagem one for £89.99 in Argos which is cheaper than Richer Sounds, also came with a £5 voucher. :)
The box is the DB, very much like a Sky box but the EPG is a bit trickier to navigate, streets ahead of the standard FTA box though.

Pretty happy with it, hdmi picture very good. The recording time shift feature does seem to make it lock up the odd time(mainly on HD). Channel changes a bit slow but holding down chan up or down seems fast

Tried timeshift on SD much better :)

Not too difficult, but idealy a sat finder should be bought to help adjust the dish and get strong signal

rough idea of what direction the dish should be facing can be got on website for that task

Pretty much butaas said a sat finder (which you pick up on ebay for a tenner or maplin for 25) will sort it a whole lot quicker.

But this Ross system is a pile of crap really, i have it would not recomend it. Very slow and clunky to flick through channels. The TV guide only has now and next which rarely works and for the most partis wrong.
