Backpacking California!

    Myself and two mates, all 21, going Cali for seven weeks. Flying into and out of San Fran but plan on getting everything in including Vegas and maybe on to the Grand Canyon from there. We'll stay in hostels mostly and rent a car at some stage. Basically want to see and do as much as possible and party most nights...

    Would appreciate any advice or even an itinerary... Where to go? What to see? Accommodation? Transport? Best places for partying and nightlife?

    Nothing booked yet aside from Kings of Leon tickets for the 9th of July near San Diego!! Ive heard you need to book everything in advance during the summer in cali and you cant really wing it as much as we would hav done in other countries??

    USA hostel was cool in San Fran and had good nites out pubs crawls etc.
    Lots of Motel 6's on the way down in all the smaller towns.

    I would try do a loop so maybe drive down the coast really cool drive and might be cheaper then all 3 of you busing it then id fly from san Diego to Vegas and loop up towards Lake Tahoe and back to San Fran.
