Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aye, but what I meant to say was his first season as a regular in the side.

Thoughts of this match have been killing me since Monday. Going to miss the first half so hopefully I'll get back to see Arsenal leading 3-0 and playing them off the park. Come on Arsenal

Pep showing fate in Busquets again. He better put in one of his trademark big game performances, otherwise I can see another potential red card for him.

Unlikely. Somehow he seems to get away with almost any foul at all, like mascherano.

What you mean unlikely? He got one in El Classico last November.

Care to expand on that and particularly on Masch claims

Aye, two yellows. One was for a ridiculous handball.

From an Arsenal POV delighted Busquets got the nod over Yaya.

Not so delighted Pedro's playing instead of Thierry.

Is this going to be 90 mins of tedious tippy-tappy?

Theirry was never going to start this match, I don't even see him coming off the bench.

You'll rue those words if he puts on a performance like he did last season against Man Utd/ Real. ;)

With Messi, Fabregas, Arshavin, Xavi on the pitch I would say undoubtedly so

He's been out of favour this season but I felt it was 50/50 between himself and Pedrito myself...

He isnt a risk against Arsenal as they are a small team less physical side.

Against a Chelsea or United Yaya would be more effective.

Probably. But I'd rather someone who can inconsistently be brilliant play over someone who is good every game and is being phased out for some baffling reason.

I just mean psychologically, he seems a liability. I think Pep would be afraid he'd let the whole occasion get to him, at Camp Nou it's a different story but playing at 'home' for the away team, he's never had the steeliest of personalities, you'd be afraid he'd lose his composure.

Wenger taking a gamble with cesc and gallas, lets hope it pays off :)

Is choosing Busquets over Toure Guardiola's biggest/only flaw? I don't get it.

Can't help but think that Arsene might regret starting Fabregas tonight.

I can see this finishing 1-1, which will pretty much put Arsenal out.

Well he manages to get away with quite a lot of fouls too. He must have a very high ratio of fouls:cards. That's not a bad thing, it's incredibly frustrating for the opposition. I imagine he'll get fabregas especially worked up, if the game isn't going his way.
Care to expand on that and particularly on Masch claims

    Not particularly, no.

Clichy mainly I'd guess.. And I reckon Song will get drawn out there as well.

Almunia, Clichy, Vermaelen, Gallas, Sagna, Diaby, Song, Fabregas, Arshavin, Bendtner, Nasri

    Probably wont be enough :D

Do not understand it either. Yaya has been immense in recent weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

That's pretty much Arsenal's best team up against pretty much Barca's best team so far this season (RVP out for arsenal, Abidal/ Iniesta for Barca). It'll be good to see if Barca are conservative, Guardiola alluded to that earlier.

He's grooming him mate, Guardiola, even before coaching Barca B team always had an interest in our La Masia players. He sees something in Busquets, and is just throwing him in the deep end from the beginning, he obviously sees something special in the kid. (So does Del Bosque by the way)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,171 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Swap Bendtner out for RVP and that would be a first choice XI. I just hope Gallas and Fabregas are actually fit to play.

    This.

No point having them out there crocked, go out of the CL and then have them unavailable for the league.

I'm sh*tting it now, I'm afraid Pep will play too conservatively. I'm seeing a 2-1 loss at the moment, although that could just be the nerves. :p

Ya, I get that, and I am not saying I know better by any means, I am just surprised that Yaya does not get more game time, especially given Busquets' poor form this season.

Unless we win to no score or by two goals, it's advantage Barca!
