Is it against the law not to have a pension?

I had a pension with my previous two employers, but now i'm contracting, and i currently don't have a pension setup, i'd prefer to lump my money into the mortgage instead of pensions, is the fact i currently don't have an active pension a lawful issue or is it just a preference/future lifestyle issue?

No law saying you have to have a private pension - but the government are trying to get more people to take them up -
