    Hi all,
I've an appointment tomorrow with a gynecologist to investigate why my periods have not returned since coming off depo provera (18 months). I had blood tests on thursday and he will have the results of them etc.

I'm just wondering what else I should expect? What other tests is he likely to send me for? Will he do an ultra sound? Is he likely to send me for a laparoscopy or any such investigations? Will he give me an internal examination?

Sorry!! I'm just a little bit anxious!

Hi doodles, sorry to hear of your plight :o I can't offer much in the way of advice but hope your apt goes well, try not to worry..

I was on the depo for a year and a half, had to come off because my hair started coming out in clumps and I was constantly spotting :( bad news that stuff IMO..

    Best of luck..

Indeed, my periods did take a few months to regulate again after it.. they don't tell you these things when they're 'selling' it to you

Actually I have been speaking to some of my girlfriend recently and I am a bit shocked about a) the side effects of birth control that they put up with(one of my friends has the implant and her partner and herself are on the verge of splitting up because of her lack of libido/mood swings)
and b) the lack of knowledge about birth control.
IS there a place i can go here to rant a bit more about tthis as it maybe off topic.
The best birth control I have use is the Nuva ring. Low hormaones and easy to stop if you need to.

Well I went to doc this morning, what a lovely lovely man, I would certainly consider going private if I became pregnant just to go to him.

So he gave me the results of my blood tests - all normal thankfully.
Also did an ultrasound and ovaries are in perfect condition, no cysts etc.

So he has put me on a 5 day course of "provera" (ironically) which is a low dosage progesterone pill which should stimulate my ovaries into actually ovulating.

He said that in 50% of cases this will work within 3-4 days. If it doesn't work, I will take it again in two weeks and if still no luck, I will be referred to an endocrinologist to check all hormone levels etc.

Hopefully that will be it and I'll be all sorted by next week :)

how you getting on now doodles? I have appoint with gynae next week in hospital, now the same myself wondering what will he do? my doc thinks might be laproscopy, but sure if that done by general they would have to give me notice and not just do it on the day??
I am on waiting list for endo specialist... had ultrasound and all was ok. Prolactin hormone was double what it should be, but now back to normal. MC last Oct, TTC since but no joy :O(
