Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Man City vs Wigan Match Thread

    From BBC Sport

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini may be taking the fight for fourth place a little too literally, but it is clear the pressure is building at Eastlands.
Having spent £200m on transfers since September 2008, Champions League qualification was supposed to be the minimum requirement. But City's expensively-assembled squad seem to be cracking under the weight of expectation.
Wednesday's defeat at home to Everton cost City their previously unbeaten home record and the chance to move above Tottenham into fourth. Mancini's touchline bust-up with opposite number David Moyes added to the sense of desperation.
History suggests it could get worse for City on Monday when they host a Wigan side they have beaten only once in nine Premier League clashes.
Roberto Martinez's side continue to hover precariously above the relegation zone, but moved a step closer to survival courtesy of Hugo Rodallega's injury-time winner against fellow strugglers Burnley last time out.

I fancy City to get back on track tonight with a fairly handy victory. Either that or some more antics from mancini!

Wigan are well capable of causing an upset given how Citeh are playing, a score draw wouldn't go astray!

Fairly Dull start City own the ball so far.

Ah Tittus. Heroic block, but if he was a better defender he would have been closer and wouldn't have required such heroics.

    From BBC -
Riquelminho on 606: "James McCarthy looks heads and shoulders above every player in the Wigan team. He's going to be a hell of a player and I'm sure it won't be long before the big teams come knocking for him."

Certainly seems to be doing well for himself.

Wright Phillips did brilliantly to get back and put off Rodaellaga there.

McCarthy works his socks off, and doesn't shirk the physical side of the game.

Having those two as a central midfield pairing at home is horrible. Has to be either one or the other.

    We need Given, 5 Tevez's and 5 Adam Johnson's

    FFS Scharner!!

That's twice Rodaellaga has done something awesome to stick Moreno in a great position. And twice Moreno has looked like a Leinster Senior League player when in that position.

Aye but I hate to see a youngster like him guarding the ball out of play for athrow in right beside the box, use it son he had space.

Don't understand the fuss behind McCarthy. He's done ok, but to say he's by far the best player in the Wigan team is a little silly.

I dunno, he didn't have that much time and seemed to be very isolated. I think it was a smart decision.

Agree with that. Rodeallaga is what Wigan have got. Alls I was saying is that he seems to be an honest player if nothing else.

This is just my opinion but id say there is 50 midfielders in the prem comfortably better than viera. Hes a passenger out there.

Good to see players have their priorities. 0-0 at half time in a Game City could do with winning to keep in touch with Spurs or 4th and the lads are swapping jerseys.

Looks like Wigan have found yet another gem in Mo Diame.

McCarthy is going to be the real deal. He plays with a maturity way beyond his age. He has the potential to be one of the best midfielders of his generation.

Tevez is the only Man City player earning his wages out there tonight. Wigan's midfield bossing, particluarly Diabe (spelling?). I think Viera is well and truly past it to be honest, I had suspected it but was reserving my judgement until I saw more of him, he is out of his depth tonight. Rodaellga has done excellent with the lack of support and scraps he has had to feed off.

    Why not

    Bit unfair on Adam Johnson
