There is a guy on here bringing in Lilja barrels .Not sure if they do 6.5x55 but they are one of the best made custom barrels on the market .Think 29" barrel would get ya 1000 yards with the 139gr lapua;)

Fergal White in Athlone is doing a good line of heavy custom barrels. Worth a call.

One thing though, and i'm not criticising anyones choice of rifle, but the father shot for 6-7 years with a 6.5x55 and took part in a few comps, but when it came to the bigger comps he was outshot nearly all the time by the full custom rifles used by the F-Class lads. With a 6.5x55 thats the category you would fall under.

    Food for thought thats all.

Sauer SSG 205. 6.5x55, tactical stock, fully adjustable, 26" heavy barrel, Sauer dedicated mounts, Nightforce 12-42x56 scope.

Not a cheap setup nor a bad shooter. One of the nicest guns i ever shot. It is a tack driver but all in it weighs about 14.5 -15 pounds max. The top lads are using 22 pound rifles, custom stocks and 30" heavy target barrels that burn out after about 1200 rounds.

He is a good shot, but the cost some lads have put into the F-Class target rifles are huge. So is the cost of maintaining them. I'm not criticising anyones rifles or their choice of target shooting. The more people involved the better. You can shoot targets with any rifle, but if you intend to compete seriously you could be looking at quite an expensive setup.

As i mentioned in my first post i am not trying to put anyone off and i welcome new and more shooters into the sport, was just passing on a bit of advice based on my experience.
