    we have a winner!

    The used a modified 700cc 126p engine mounted longitudinally (running backwards) as well as the transverse mounted 900 and 1100cc engines as used in the Seicento.

    Michael Schumacher's first car was a Cinquecento, he later put his name to a Seicento special edition.

    I thought of the 126 first, and a little digging around on Wikipedia revealed the correct answer. :D

    Ok, what am I thinking of?

    -5 door hatchback (or van)
    -Longitudional engine with gearbox mounted ahead of it
    -8 million or so produced
