So browsing Youtube I came across some pretty kick ass live performance of songs, so many I could spend the day posting them here

A few stuck out (to me) and just made me go "wow.. I wanna be there so damn bad"

Metallica - Harvester of Sorrow. In front of almost 1,000,000 people in moscow in 1991. Epic.

I've posted this before...

Pearl Jam - Porch at Pink Pop 1992. Ok, I was only 8 then but I was a HUGE Pearl Jam fan. Oh, I want a time machine for this performance!

Eddie Vedder is on top form, the crowd is in a frenzy & he jumps right in there to crowd surf during a killer solo. Epic!!

I miss the 90s so much

Pantera - Cowboys from Hell ( Monsters of Rock - Moscow 1991) Whole concert is savage though (and was free!)

Possibly several perfomances by Hendrix, where he goes off on a tangent after a couple of minutes into a song, weaving in and out off different music types, as the band falls silent. It can sometimes be boring when this happens in metal bands, but always a pleasure with Hendrix. An example is Stone Free, taken of the Jimi Hendrix Concerts album released in the '90's. It's unreal. Absolutely love Voodoo Chile from Woodstock in '69. It's the style and showmanship that gets ya too.

This is actually 2 songs, couldnt find the first one on its own. Love reign o'er me, a song by The Who, covered by Pearl Jam. Pretty f**king amazing. This blows that porch out of the water imo.

I have an interview tucked away somewhere with Scott Gorham or Brian Robertson where one of them said Live and Dangerous was 90% overdubbed. I just checked wiki (bad source I know) and it says the drums are the only original part for most of the songs. It's probably why it sounds so good but it does take away from the live ethos though there are more than enough good bootlegs and people's recollections out there to counter this.

Love watching old RHCP performances. They always had crazy energy at their concerts (before they went all sappy & radio friendly :rolleyes:) Fans used go crazy and take off their t - shrts and whip them around over their heads and have water thrown all over them. The band dancing around in their Y fronts, oh god, and the tube socks! They were pretty accurately portrayed on the Simpsons actually! ("Los Simpsons!")

Anthony Kiedis was the man (that's why Mike Patton ripped him off :mad:) Ah, I do love FNM too.

I don't know if I'd call this "greatest", but the Smashing Pumpkins doing Geek USA live makes me happy. "Fire is funny, but a flaming clown ... not funny."
