Is it time for a new politics in Ireland. Perhaps a new political party is needed to bring about this new politics. A party with no civil war ties, a party with clear beliefs and policies and a party with new fresh faces free from political nepotism.

The Progressive Democrats said that back in the 1980s and look what happened. :(

However, there has been a lot of talk about it recently - Amhrán Nua being an example. Whether they'll be successful or not is another thing, but it never hurts to try.

If there was a major split in both FG/FF it could happen, but would really need both.

Or maybe if FG got into power alone next time and really f*cked things up. Perhaps people would still remember FF's handling of the boom years and vote instead for Labour/Sinn Fein/Independents

Might lead to some sort of coalition of the left. I think Ireland's perhaps too conservative though.

Thankfully, yes we are spared the results of Joan Burton as Finance Minister.

a new administration will take a new direction, each time

ff and fg are not the parties they were in 1930

irish society is wary of radicalism after living with the blood letting in N I for 30 years

just put in a new administration and small change is better than utopian expectation

10 per cent of something is always better than 90 per cent of nothing

put in labour and fg and lets turn the page and deal with our challenges,

if you do not love enda do not worry - every cabinet is populated by talented people.

    This Thread should be called:

"Time for a new politicians in Ireland."

    It's more... direct!

If the number of seats in the Dail/Seanad were reduced then a new party would stand a greater chance of relative success. As it stands now, any ambitious young politician will more than likely gravitate towards the two big parties for future success.
