Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Downloading for idiots?

Sorry folks, another dumb question I'm sure.
I have been d/l stuff for a friend of mine on his computer. He obviously has everything configured right.
I am trying for the first time to d/l on my own computer, and it's not working the same. When I click a d/l from a torrent site, I have a torrent folder set up, but most of it just goes to Azureus, and takes 3 seconds, or doesn't d/l.
Can someone explain to me in very simple terms what I'm doing wrong here please?

You are downloading the torrent file, not the main file that you actually want.
Think of the torrent file like a guide file. You donwload it and then it guides you to the bigger file which is the one you want.

You need to use Azureus to open the torrent file (the small file) and it will start the proper download, presuming there are seeds.

I'm sure it is legal downloads you are talking about.

Torrenting is the only way to find those public domain movies after all.

When you save a torrent file you shouldnt save it you should have it Open With... your torrenting program.

For uTorrent this pops up a quick dialog about which files you want to download that are associated with the torrent, click OK, aaaand wait several hours days or weeks, depending on your connection, and the seeds.

The following instructions are for uTorrent, but I presume Azureus has something similar.

    Open Azureus.
    File/Add Torrent
Find the folder you downloaded the torrent file into (probably Downloads)
Select the torrent file, click open
It should then give you a 'save as' window where you choose where on your computer you wish to save the big (legal) film file.
Click OK and away you go.
