Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

have an alfa 147 02 reg arrpox 40,000 mile on clock

airbag warning light is on, been on for 2 weeks now

    According to the manual

    AIR BAG FAILURE

Any ideas of this is as bad as it sounds , can airbags be reset or is it a replace job. If it is a replace job, is this a costly job

    Thanks

Had this on my mother's 156 following an AA jumpstart. From memory we were told that the garage could reset the light easily but only because it had been on for less than 24 hours - had we left it any longer it'd have needed a new airbag module. I have to say the story doesn't sound particularly believable to me, but there you go. I'd ring Gerry in TI Autos and ask him.

Its usually a sensor under the passenger seat that gets unplugged/dmaged and triggers the light. I think the aribag system still works but doesnt know if there is someone in the passenger seat so to be safe would deploy the passenger airbag in an accident. If the sensor were working then it would only deploy the passenger airbag if there was someone in the seat.

Generally a garage can reset it, but it may come back if you dont fix the sensor - as suggested TI Autos are Alfa specialists

if its a 3 dr a common problem is the connection under the passengers seat. most garages get rid of the connection and solder the wires.
i would get it checked out soon if i was you. As anan1 said you only have 24 driving hours according to alfa romeo to get the light turned off before the ecu can't be reset.
