Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hs anyone on here got the lumix camera and how do they find it. I think my heart is set on one.

Im looking for something that will take a fairly instant snap as I want to take photos of motorsport and record videos too. would this do the job?

Steve's Digicams posted a very positive review in the last few days:

    Another one here:

I have the FZ28 which is similar except that it is 10MP instead of 12MP. It is an excellent camera. If you want a bridge camera, you probably won't find a better one.

The Panasonic makes very good HD (720p@30fps) movies. You should use a fast SDHC card for best results, although I use a cheap class-4 card and I haven't noticed any problems.

For motorsport, you would probably be better off with a DSLR and a fast lens.

Thanks for that. Well it's not going to be anything pro just pics for myself and compared to a cybershot w100 should be much better.

Can u tell me two things with your camera would the pic be fairly instant and regarding the videos let's say u wanna send a clip by email can anyone watch it or do they have to have the software?

Reasonably quick. Focus time is a fraction of a second in good light, a bit longer in dark conditions. It has a burst mode which seems to take just 3 shots at 2.5fps and a continuous mode which I find is a little slower, although this is probably limited by my class-2 SDHC card.

Read the Steve's Digicams review. He claims that his review FZ28 was quite a bit faster than the claimed 2.5fps specified by Panasonic.

If you are happy with 1280x720 resolution, the HD movie mode does 30fps.

They will need some kind of MPEG4 player. On my PC (Debian Linux), I just double click the video file icon and the standard movie player pops up and plays the movie. If you want to try it on your system, just download the sample movies from Steve's review.

The FZ38 seems to use a different format called AVCHD Lite. I downloaded one of the samples from the review page and it plays fine on this computer. Quality is very good.
