Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

With C4 HD launching on Freesat does this mean we will be able to addit in now via other channel ?

Check this am and it's not there. Is it going on Freesat?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 951 ✭✭✭Trevord

April 1st was suggested as the launch date but I don't have it in my EPG.

However, Freesat.co.uk (the official freesat website) lists 4hd as a channel on freesat

    http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels

    Meanwhile on www.joinfreesat.co.uk it says

"Update – please be aware that the schedule slipped due to contractual issues between Channel 4 and Sky, so the 1st April release has been changed for later this month; as soon as we have official confirmation, we’ll let you know)."

So unless there is a last minute change of mind then surely we should expect it any day now.

It hasn't joined Freesat yet. It's due shortly though. It can, however, be tuned in Non-Freesat mode.

    Humax Freesat HD box

There is actually another thread, if you look back a few pages, with all the details, as it is still officially only testing.

Will be on the Freesat EPG within the next 2 weeks. No exact date advised yet but it will be in April and we're half way through already, so a fortnight at most to go.

Reboot the receiver. If this does not work, reboot a second time. It always works the second time for some reason....

Great to see C4 HD on Freesat.
I hope the rest of the 4 family in HD follow.
4 Music would also be a nice addition for Freesat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,611 ✭✭✭Rick_

Channel 4 have that transponder to themselves so plenty of space for more HD channels.

4 Music is a possibility when 1N is launched later this year.

At The Gadget Show Live, a Freesat representative stated that there will be 3 more HD channels on Freesat this year, not counting Channel 4 HD or NHK World HD. Anyone wanna take a guess at what they will be? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭200motels

Why oh why is this channel not on the Sky platform?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

Programme rights would be my guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,936 ✭✭✭JDxtra

Yep, it's to do with rights. C4 have a special version of the SD channel for us which appears on the EPG and blocks out certain shows or movies. I guess they don't have the capacity to create an equivalent HD version specifically for Ireland.

They can get away with the channel on Freesat because the service is (and never was) actively targeted for use in the Republic of Ireland. The fact that Freesat works here just fine here doesn’t come into it. Same goes for all the extra ITV channels recently dumped from UPC and never appearing on Sky (even though you can tune them in).

Well if channel 4 have the capacity I would hazard a guess that e4 hd and maybe film 4hd would be 2 of the 3 other hd channels to launch.

The 3rd could be luxe ?

    I'm only guessing though

Channel 5 HD maybe as they are now the only main UK broadcaster without a HD presence on the platform.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,396 ✭✭✭FRIENDO

I would love to see Film 4 E4 More4 HD, maybe CBS Action HD or the ITV 2 3 4 in HD
Horror channel HD would also be cool

i am sure when the new birds(satellites) with the narrow beams come into service over next two to three years all of above channels will hit freesat ;)

Luxe has gone out of business afaik.

Just wondering if there are any online TV guides that show which of Channel 4 programs are in HD? Their website doesn't seem to give any indication.
