Ok so now that bf1943 and bad company 2 have hit , Battlefield 3 should be next to be released in the series .
After playing bad company 2 what changes do you want to see for bf3?
Or what should be retained from bad company 2 ?

I think the UAV is an excellent addition to the gameplay in bad company 2,
i would like it if ground troops could laser a target for it !!

The gadgets and weapons unlocks are a good idea too , the only thing i would like to see is it to be a bit harder to get most of the unlocks for most of the classes , if you specialise in a class long term reward that a bit more.

    Any other thoughts on this?

Whoooooshshh !!!! PLANES !!! Of equal capability !!
    -It was always J10 > everything !!

Oh..and bring back the BF2 Choppers..and the way they handled, and same for the tanks, and jeeps.....and make a decent Browser search...trying to filter out HC/NonHC or NON Inf-Only is a nightmare

Only be able to spawn on squad leader again

    commanders

    whens it scheduled btw ?

I also preferred the ranking system in BF2...

Basically I preferred tha game as a whole.

    No commanders

    Fighters > Bombers

    More than 4 classes

Anti-Air Personal Missile Launchers (Stingers or something)

Dedicated Servers, Console and round recordings again!

A game that will be playable competitively. :D

A spy class like in TF2 to stab them pesky noob snipers..lol :D
And give the engi class a RYU fireball instead of the CG launcher or tak tak tak do dak whirlwind kick in place of a repair tool.

Remote Control Drones - Auto matic drones like in FRONTLINES FUELS OR WAR.

And space the unlocks better...stupid to be rank 31 and no unlocks left

the ability to unlock and change weapons on vehicles and specializations in ranks say you play mostly in tanks or apc's have a spec for that (Armored Sgt) or if yer grandaddy sniper .. have a spec for that (Deadeye Capt)

    +1

Would be nice to have the console and be able to modify the games, having access to server files etc.

Games should make the option, that at the end of a round/game, teams are automatically mixed up (except those in a squad) .....though BF:BC2 everyone has to be in a squad. Bring back the "Lone Wolves" of BF2...so i can kick snipers from my squad !!

In fairness you've played the game for 92 hrs, it's not an MMORPG, it's not supposed to be about levelling up. I'm sure there are still badges you have not achieved and there are more ranks to attain.

A titan mode equivalent from 2142. For me it was the best mode in any FPS multiplayer. Teamwork was essential.

Aye. Nothing more fun than killing them from the sky, and circling them until your team returned it :D

    -No bloom and vivid colors
-Nice big open maps like it used to be

well there will be some bigger maps just so airplanes can fly properly , but i think a lot of the bad company 2 maps are a nice size , theres no map i really dislike in bad company in conquest mode , in rush though some of the maps i do dislike.

For a start, it will be an evolution of BF2, not BC2 - BC2 is an offshoot to the series.

So it will be changes upgrades from BF2 I'd be interested in.

    A good Commander Mode.

    Armed UAV's.

Decent Rank / Unlock progression, with some newer weapons (like some of the Isreali guns).

    Proper Team balancing.

Timed detonations on rockets / AT munitions to avoid the n00b tube.

The GL I have no issue with.

Some more game modes, Conquest just gets boring after a while!

Dumb down the planes for raping foot-soldiers.

Laser target illumination for planes / soldier on the ground.

    Emphasis back on Squad Tactics.

Larger Maps (but no HUGE maps withotu some modes of transport!)

Bring back night maps, and some of the equipment from Special Forces (grapple hook and stun grenades).

I'm sure I could think of more, but I'd like those anyway.

Oh, and of course DECENT NET CODE and a working PB!!!!!

Yeah something like where there's an actual objective would be cool. I know we sort of have it in the Rush maps in BC2, but something like that would be great, where you would have to actually devise an attack / defend strategy would be good. Would especially be great for skirmishing / matches.

If you don't like bloom, just turn it off...

I happen to quite like it.

However, I suppose in the interest of fairness, bloom should be forced on or off, so no-one has an advantage.

Bad company 2 may be an offshoot to the battlefield series but trust me just from reading various DICE interviews they view a lot of the features in this as a test bed for additions to bf3 especially the weapons charecteristics in regards to bullet dropping off over distance, bullets traveling through objects etc . Dont be surprised if some of the textures etc are used in bf3 .
However in regards to how the game actually plays then id hope that bf3 is different , no lying down position is a big minus for a lot of classes, probably suited to the faster gameplay style in bad company .

I still think the sniper scopes should have a distance adjustment that the sniper can set for distance etc .

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,299 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Would like if they made you lie down if you wanted to use an M60 (something like in DoD:Source), and had to at least crouch to use the scope in the sniper rifle, with no targeting aid on the screen when you walking around with it.

Well no doubt it will be built on the same engine, or Frostbite 2.

I would imagine some models / textures to be passed over, however I would hope that its a different team working on BF3, so it will be completely different to BC2.

Some big jungle maps would be great, like a Vietnam type of scenario with lots of foliage and cover - would make is especially difficult for planes.

Its still strange that there is so little info about it on the net - not even an official screenshot. This makes me think its still some time away - the end of 2010 at the earliest.

As far as i know its a lot of the same team who will be working on BF3 hence why theres so little being released , there will be massive amount of work put into it this year and a 2010 release is likely id say.
Your right about the different game modes as i said i want Capture the flag back there is nothin more fun than that.

The new rush game mode is fine but i find that with the use of good spawing stratagies etc the defenders can be overwhelmed too easily . It will prob be argued with but id like to see spawning on teammates gone for attackers in the rush mode and maybe give the attackers a few fixed points to choose from nearer the objective depending on map obviously.

To be honest after a few rounds of rush i always end up goin looking for conquest then as the taking of positons ever changing strategies makes for a better game.

Some of my best moments were during Rush games but by far the best games and most enjoyable over the whole battle have been conquest.

I quite like Rush - though it is a little arcady.

Remember, in BF3 (if there is a rush type mode) the spawns will become less effective as we'll have the Commander mode back (as well as battalion > squad level).

So once people are paying attention, and sort of attack should be counterable. A lot of the team play is lost (especially defensively) in BC2 due to the lack of tactical communications and proper orders / command hierarchy.

Having the Commander back, and the ability to issue orders and a commo rose back will be great. I miss even the silly things like calling for a medic, and saying thanks lol

But they are vitally important for a fully featured BF game.

Weren't there 3 screenshots released from BF3 a while back? I remember shots of a plane, and a tank in a city-scape (looking like Manhattan), but cant remember the third. I may be mistaken by this, but I'm pretty sure they were from BF3. Or else I dreamed it. I hope I didn't. The shots looked sweet.

I think there were shots leaked that were meant to be BF3 but later on they were revealed as bad company shots just from looking round net cant see any authentic shots .

I think I remember those alright, but they really looked more like target renders than anything concrete. May not have even been official.

I want my planes back...just because some noobs were biatching about them they get all nerfed and then taken out..bloody sucks.

    What I'd like for BF2..
Transport plans like the Galaxy etc for dropping off troops or tanks etc.
Fighter jets like Eurofighter/F22/Viggen that are air to air only. No bombs and no ground targets..sure they can use their cannon but there are no boxes identifying the enemy vehicles.
Bombers such as B2/B-52/F117/A-10 with very limited air to air capacity...(none for the B2/F117 and only defense guns for B52. Not sure how they'd work the stealth for the B2/F117..maybe impossible to shoot down with missiles..cannon only.
Whatever happens they need to separate the fighters from the bombers. They made a big mistake with mixing both up from BF2 and at the start any plane was invincible.
So doing it my way forces people to play as bombers to rack up points and be at the mercy of fighter jets or play as fighter jets and concentrate on keep Air dominance for your team.

Or better still...remake 1942 in all it's modern glory with Spitfires/Hurricanes/P52/FW109/ME262/Heinkel bombers etc :)

Yeah, I meant to mention that they looked like renders. Way too purty to be in-game shots. I just hope the urban environment will be featured. I know there are issues with Frostbite, it's environmental destruction and whatnot for Bad Company 2. But maybe this game's a test-run for what can be done in BF3. Rolling through a city, blasting walls, and fighting house-to-house with infantry would be a stone-groove!

Not sure about the transport thing - seems pretty pointless to me.

Separating bombers from fighters would be good though. Could keep air power to the air, and the ground forces on the ground.

Stealth - easy. Missiles cannot lock on. Only dumb fire rockets and AA guns would be effective. Or have it as an 'ability' that has to charge up and only lasts a certain amount of time - not realistic, but could be worked from a gameplay point of view.

To add to the Eurofighter Typhoon, F-22 & Viggen. I'd like to see the Mig 31 / Su-30 and F-38. Why not the new Sukhoi PAK FA /T-50?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,434 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

Well your transporters could move tanks/jeeps across very fast to different parts of the maps..provided they weren't shot down :)
would be cool to see all those tank drivers bailing out in their tanks with parachutes only then to realise they're landed in deep water ...muhahaahaha :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,516 ✭✭✭Outkast_IRE

would all be dependant on map sizer really for transporters , no BF2 map would benefit from transporters really , however some of the 1942 maps were well big enough.

    Autobalance.

The game is a ****ing joke without it. Every server I've played on has had serious issues with people leaving one side to be on the 'winning' side and NOBODY wanting to switch to even out the teams.

It worked on Bf2, so I see no reason it should not work on BC2.

Total bollocks, and it ruins a good game.
