Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dunno where to post this so I've come here.
I'm trying to remove the bulkhead in my car to replace a broken heater control valve and two of the screws just keep turning left and will not come out. I've even tried grabbing a little nut type thing at the bottom and unscrew them, I've tried to use force to pull them out, they just won't come out...

    Can anyone help me here!!!

    Thanks.

Cut or drill the heads off. Get it all opened up, then worry about getting the screw out. You could drill the whole screw out depending on what its for & possibly fit a slightly larger self tapping screw. If you simply put some outward pressure behind the head of the screw, it may also come out

No problem, got the screws out...

Cheers for the advice anyway. I'll remember that the next time...

Ah I was gonna suggest using a flat head driver for leverage. What did you do in the end? might be usefull to others with similar trouble removing items.

It turned out that the screw was secured in the washer which was connected to the nut in one unit... sorta hard to explain but the whole thing was like a pin.
So instead of trying to pry the screw + washer out, I pried the screw out of the washer and it came out...

I think I've made a very poor attempt at describing it. I'ld have taken a picture to explain but I reinstalled all the screws back in as I finished changing the HCV.

Its the first DIY job I did on my car and its working fine... so far!
    So quite proud of that.

Next I've gotta install new lowered suspension, new exhaust, new brakes and finally a 2.0 Cosworth Duratec engine!
Or if I wanna get serious about rallying rather than just a fast fun track car, a 1.6l Ford Sigma engine (which is basically a straight swap from a 1.6 Puma), tune it up to create a J-WRC car!

I would like to see that build. I've been following some builds over on passionford, there is some new build nearly everyday. Its a great resource with plenty knowledgeable folk. There hasn't been too many cosworth pumas though.

I like how much effort this guy put into his cossie puma :

I don't know if I'ld be able to put that much into my car... But something along those lines should be good. Depends on where I'm over the next few years and how much I've saved up to spend on the car.

I was initially thinking of buying something like a micra and then throw it away after a couple of years for something nice.
Then I decided to get the Puma and keep it for a while so instead of spending money on buying a new car, I could spend it on the Puma and make it into a proper track/road/gravel monster!!
