    lol

Looks good, I'd go with the Samsung F3 1TB instead of the 7200.12, the Sammy is faster. Other than that, the build looks great :D

Thanks! I'm getting it for studying well enough for my JC. So I should be getting it in June/July.

Nothing major, but if it were me:

    1) Unless you are overclocking, I would not get thermal compound. €10 for a few degrees if you are not overcloking is simply not worth it.

    2) Swap out the HDD for a Samsung F3, it is the top performing consumer grade HDD. Komplett should have a 1TB one (that's where I got mine).

    3) Make sure you get that motherboard (as it has USB3.0) and not the very similar one without it.

    4) You could get by on a cheaper power supply. Would reccomend a Corsair TX/HX around 600/650W, which would still give you lots of future proofing room.

Otherwise, looks good. Just think carefully about whether you want to do this as it is a slippery slope, soon you'll be upgrading this and that every other month :p

    1) Yes, I do hope to get started with Overclocking.
    2) Will look for it now :3
    3) Yep, I have seen the similar motherboard, around €20 less. I am getting USB3.0 because I plan to build a few External HDD's with a compatible Enclosure, as I have 2 or 3 2.5" drives hanging around.
    4) It's not much more € for that much more "headroom"

    Thanks for you help :3

It appears they only carry the Samsung F3 500GB version at the moment, in the future if they have the 1TB model I will swap the hard drives around :D

750w PSU seems a bit much, remember your not the one paying the electric bill.
As was mentioned before 600 or 650 would be more than enough.

    Have a look here: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

Thanks for the Calc, looks like I'll go for the 650W then :D

    Hey venom,
firstly try this case instead, got one recently and was very impressed ,
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=576184
    save €50

Secondly that motherboard u've selected has onboard graphics which is a waste of your money try this instead
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=490260
**edit sorry does'nt support usb3 is it really necassary??**
    excellent board
    save €30

Thirdly get a 2 core phenom and use the bios to unlock another 2 cores making it a quad core!!! Did this with mine recently and works a treat(sometimes only one extra core unlocks-google is your friend!!). Also pushed it to 3.6mhz without much voltage increase
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=485798
    save €70

ditch that anti-static band and just touch off something metal before you begin your build, never had any issues myself.
    save €8

change the ram to these ,better timings on them for less €€
    Overclocked nicely for me.
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=518211
    save €10

With the money saved invest in a better graphics card and bigger screen and get more enjoyment out of games!
if you could stretch the budget to this
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=584726
you would have a seriously quick gaming machine!
By the way that motherboard and cpu combo is an overclockers dream ,great starter computer!
    hope this helps.

    1) I'm getting the Coolermaster for personal preferences, I just really like it's design and tool-less installation
2)I wanted USB3.0 and the board I have selected has better reviews.
3)Interesting, the board I have selected supports core unlocking as well, I will look into it.
4)Nah I'm a bit forgetful, so the anti-static band isn't much to save the components from being fried :D
    5) Nice!

    Thank you for your help!

Forgot to add, my parents and me definitely won't be able to afford the 5850, unfortunately, but in the future I might get a second 5770 :3

  • Registered Users Posts: 293 ✭✭Kavs

Expensive card alright that 5850 but top notch preformance, glad that info helps, let us know how the build goes.

I'm thinking of going with Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Proffessional, what does proffessional have that Home Premium doesn't?

EDIT: Just noticed some parts are end-of-life on Komplett, I may end up either ordering some parts from elsewhere or swapping parts around.

I've actually decided to stick with the Phenom II X4, this is my first build and I want to be guaranteed 4 cores, maybe for a possible second build :D

If your building in July you are wasting your time pricing it now, 3 months in hardware terms is roughly about 2 million years in real terms

I understand that, it's jsut I find it fun to get an estimate of what I'd like :D

Anyway, other than price, this list should stay fairly the same, as it's exactly what I want/need :D

Replaced MB with better one, for Crossfire with 2 5770's in the future.

Graphics Card and Monitor are missing as of now, due to Komplett's warehouse moving.
