Anyone able to advise on some good MTB routes in Kerry.
Going to be in the Killorglin area.

    Nothing too technical.

    thanks

Not a whole pile of offroad good trails around Killorglin IIRC. (Good challenging cycle around lough Cara though).

Best bet is Killarney - quite a few trails through the national park up around the Blue Pool (was/is a round of the national XC league there). Nothing as organised as Ballyhoura (rider created and certainly not officially marked) but there's somethign there for just about everyone. You might consider dropping Killarney CC an email as they have a very active MTB section and would know the whole area like the back of their hand.

Alternatively, if you were thinking of doing something light and different you could ride over the mountain to the Old Kenmare road which brings you back to Killarney on the main road from just below Ladys View. Not very challenging but scenic as ya like

As Che says there's not much around Killorglin but there's a huge amount of trails around Killarney. If you want some technical downhill stuff there are a couple of downhill trails in Torc Woods and also in Rossacrue Woods near Kilgarvan. As for XC there's a short loop at a place called Lough Guitane (turn left after Moll Darby's), there's also the short loop at Blue Pool which is the left turn before that.

The best option though is the Old Kenmare Road. If you park by the old church by ladies view it's a 20km return trip out the road towards Kenmare and back. If you get the day for it,it can be epic. If you want a bit more of a challenge you can also cycle the narrower part of the Old Kenmare Road back towards Killarney. This part is closed to bikes but as long as you walk the muddy singletrack section (and stay clear of the rangers!) it's alright. Also be warned there's one kilometre over boulders where you'll have to carry the bikes. But if you're up for something different it's an option.

Anyway all the trails down there blow the Ballyhouras out of the water, enjoy!
