n97 mini car charger wont work....????

    bought a car charger for a nokia 97 mini, the type that plugs into the 12V power point in the car. it's not a nokia product, but seems well made.

    anyway, when it's plugged in to the car then the phone, the phone starts going nuts. the n97 mini starts flsahing messages, first the usual 'charging' message you'd expect, then the 'charged, unplug charger to save energy' message, after only couple of seconds. It then goes into some kind of loop displaying these two messages repeatedly, changing between them every couple of seconds....

    anyway, phone doesn't charge and I did try it on a regular n97 also and same thing.

    any ideas???? settings problem? help appreciated!

    could possibly be a faulty connection in the charger, can you pull it apart to see if any of the wires look dodgy or is it one of those that are melted together
