Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

VW Golf - Exhaust Emission Warning Lamp

    Hi

I got into my car the other day and noticed that a little orange/yellow engine symbol was light up on the dash board.

I looked this symbol up in the manual and it says that it is the exhaust emission warning lamp.

Does anyone know what this means. Is it serious? i am not driving the car until I can get it to a mechanic on Tuesday as I don't want to do more damage.

If anyone has any idea i'd appreciate any knowledge they may have on this little orange symbol.

You need to get a diagnostic scan done by vw or by someone with vcds (vag-com), it could be a number of things, cat, lambda. A scan will tell more as there will be a fault code logged.

What engine is in the car?

    Thanks Neilw.

I have no clue when it comes to cars :) I have just opened the bonnet of the car and it says 1.6 16V is this the name of the engine?

I think i'll just wait to see a mechanic on Tuesday as i'm afraid i'd cause lots of damage if i drive the car around over the bank holiday weekend.
lots of damage = lots of money!!!
