I've tried a few movie streaming sites, and they all take 5 minutes to buffer the beginning of a movie. Then 10 minutes to buffer about 30 seconds of the movie itself.

Paying for Eircom Business 8meg, connection info : 6144/512 (kbps)

    Am I missing something?

    Line stats please.

It may be a 'naturally' slower line and if so the crcs will be high and so will the retransmits.

Where is the movie hosted by the way?

Max Allowed Speed (kbps) 6144 512
    SN Margin (dB) 9.00 15.00
    Line Attenuation (dB) 44.00 27.00
    CRC Errors 18 5

    HQStage is the hosting site.

CRCs are not hideous but 6megs is high at 44db and the margin is tight at 9db. What are those stats if you plug the router straight in with no filter?? Does attenuation drop from 44db and does margin increase from 9db....either would be an improvement.

I reckon that a lower profile speed....say 4mbits...may be more stable TBH.

Eircom support said that this is stable at 6.1 meg, but i had a stable line last year at 7.1 meg.

Any downside to removing the filter?

Not for BB, the phone will not work but the BB will. It will eliminate the filter as an issue for now.

    I'll remove it now.

Update. The movie im trying to watch has taken me 60 mins to buffer less than half of it.

Some of the film looks buffered already, but I'm getting a lot of skipping. I get this from other hosts too :(
