Torres was playing awful, not at the races at all, not surprised he's been taken off

    Oh dear.

Yes, he's had a tough game; however it's Fernando Torres and we must win this game...I am surprised

Should be 2-1 down. More pathetic non marking.

    Even if n'gog gets a winner, that's a joke.99 times out of a hundred that's a dreadful move.

He's a natural finisher, the only one we have, he only needs to get one chance.

    No my Gog!

I hope all these missed chances don't phase N'Gog.

    Bad miss.

    Should be 1-2

Rafa has just opened himself up to a world of pain if this doesn't come off for him. I'm just baffled by that substitution!!

    Gerrard's reaction was priceless!!

If N'Gog gets the winner or sets up the winner then it will be a good move. If however we end up drawing or losing, well then taking off your best offensive player starts to look very foolish.

two misses from ngog,,, i wonder who would have put that in the net!!!!!!!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 479 ✭✭SWAR

Ngog just missed a good opportunity...if only it had fell to...oh wait, he's been taken off

It's a hugely risky move. Now isn't the time for.those

    Torres looked like thunder though.

If Nando didn't think it was enough to take him off then I honestly think this game is important enough to risk it.

I honestly wonder whose idea the icepack was at this stage.

Well he was surprised to be taken off, so he would have been fine to play on

He did the same when he was taken off during the win against Sunderland last week. So would not put much stock in it.

This fúcking place sometimes, i swear to god.

Would you lot rather we lost him to ANOTHER injury when we need him the most?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,267 ✭✭✭opr

Reports suggest Rafa hadn't seen the goal and thought it was still 0-1 when he took Nando off. Kamaraitis is catching :)

    Opr

    Hilarious post.

Ice pack means nothing as one of the above posters just said. Same thing against Sunderland.

EDIT: I mean all the evidence we have at the moment (Gerrard and Torres reactions) tell you he was perfectly fine to play on and you still come up with that crap.

Judging by the player's reaction to being subbed, it did not appear that he was injured.

We're very nearly amost fúcked for 4th place as is. If we don't get 3 points today, I'd be almost amazed if we get 4th.

We need him on the pitch now imo.

    I know, right?

Seriously, given the evidence we have at the moment surely Melion shouldn't be getting all righteous.

Yep, if we don't get 3 points today he may as well take an early summer holiday for all it matters

i really hope it's a potential injury that he's preventing.

but Torres' face and body language definitely suggest otherwise.

if it comes to pass that he had no choice but to come off because he was about to do his knee in, fair enough, and i'll give Rafa his dues.

but if not, then sorry, that was one of the most moronic tactical moves i've seen.

whether it comes off or not, no logic in the world suggests you take off your biggest goal threat in a game you need to win, again, unless he's on the verge of doing himself a horrible injury.

Rafa must think Torres can't play through pain as well.:pac:

i think its fair to say we've created 3 excellent chances since the sub was made wit ngog involved in them all. torres, as good as he is, is not untouchable, especially when struggling to put a shift in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

If torres thought he was ok he should have continued. We have easier pl games coming up and benfica isn't important. This is must win.

then bring N'Gog on for someone else.

for example, Kuyt's barely putting a shift in.

N'Gog has lovely control when a ball is played to him. Holds it up well and buys time for other players to get forward.

The decision is getting more insane with each miss.

Torres only needs one excellent chance.
Bring N'Gog on from someone else.
    Stupid from Rafa

simple question, have we been playing better since the sub was made?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,560 ✭✭✭✭Kess73

If N'Gog scores in the 93rd minute, will that make Rafa a genuis? :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Would ye not wait till after the match and hear what the story is with his knee before running for the pitchforks?

Do ye ever give the manager the benefit of the doubt and stop jumping to conclusions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,519 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Jesus Insua - he really is an unfortunate lad. Just cost us our latest attacking phase of possession through 'injury' - bad call by the ref though.
