Colour B4. It comes in two strengths and as Munstergirl said, it is mixed up on the hair dye shelves in Boots. I didn't dye my hair for about three weeks after pulling the colour out of it (didn't have a need and was in college day and night so had no reason to), but instead got a full head of highlights over the colour.

Misticles; I was super ginge too but trust me it dies down :)

I believe it will work for everyone:)

That's the website and the guy Scott is very active on the facebook link..

Thanks girls, actually saw the link on first post after i posted that :o.
Really thinking about trying it, even if i didn't like the colour that comes out i'd love to be able to go back to using home dyes, can't afford salon prices every month. There's some brilliant reviews on the Boots site anyway and a few women seem to have the same history as me with bleaching and dying hair for last 10 years or so. Also my mam has a picture of my on my communion in her house and my hair colour was really gorgeous it was such a lovely light red. Am due to get my hair done next weekend but might just try this instead!!

I don't know if your hair will turn out like communion photo :) but i think the product is great, i must be dying my hair 10+ years all shades of red, brown, nearly black so i'm happy to have a choice what colour to go next.

  • Registered Users Posts: 856 ✭✭✭MissMotivated

Yeah wishful thinking about the communion photo!! tbh my roots now look nothing like my natural colour, they look more grey than anything  but I'm hoping that's just cos the colour I have would be so dark in comparison. But I would just be happy to get the build up of dark colours out and start over. mmmmmm will have to give this a good think

The product will only remove dyes that are the same depth or darker than your natural colour. Any parts that have been lightened will come out light.

Just wondering how everybody's hair is after using the colour b4 a couple of week on? I have the box at home ready to go but my biggest fear is that it will make my already dry hair worse :(

I had lovely blond hair (highlighted) which i decided to have professionally dyed brunette. Had this done 3 times but it kept fading back to a dark blond colour within 4 weeks. While i do like my brunette hair i find my hair drier and hard to get it healthy & shiney looking (which my blond always looked) Roll on 2 weeks ago, when broke silly me decided that putting a home kit semi (Garnier Herbashine) on to get a few more weeks out of my hair and save a few quid would be a good idea. My biggest worry is that this colour came out very dark and it is not fading like any of the previous times :(

I have decided to go back to my fairer roots so have been considering using colour b4, waiting a week or too and going back into my hairdressers to have a my highlights.

Did any of you go back to your hairdresser after? Did you next dye job turn out ok?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 554 ✭✭✭Wantobe

I was a blonde highlight but decided to go darker. Got it done in hairdressers but wanted a light brown with blonde highlights. Didn't like it at all and did a home dye of an auburn shade. Didn't like that either so used colour b4. It did strip my hair and then after a week went back to hairdressers and got more blonde highlights in. Hair is in terrible condition since, dry and frizzy. Have to accept it's my own fault for doing so much messing. But just to answer your question- if your hair is already dry like mine is, yes mine is in quite bad condition now.

Hi, ive been looking everywhere to find if this works on grey hair....i was unfortunate to start with greys at 21!!! & have been dying ever since im naturally mid/dark brown & always dye darkish brown but getting tired of dying so much (once a month) & want to go lighter to hide those pesky little greys longer  any help would be great ty :)

A friend used it on her to get it back to her natural hair colour which was blonde it took three boxes and she ended up with a tinge of orange in it.

Just used it, a bit more ginge then my hair usually is, but I'm not complaining.

Im really impressed, one box did my mountain of hair, would really recommend it, maybe be prepared to put a semi on after but I think it's great.

Had my hair stripped in a hairdressers and this is so much more natural!

I've just bought Colour B4 regular.I saw it in my local chemist, but they didn't have the extra strength one. My hair is a dark brown colour but kind of looks black, and it's naturally a mousy brown colour. I'm just wondering has anybody maybe used the regular a few times and found it to work or should I just be on the look out for the extra strength somewhere?

And also, will it expose all my grey hairs?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

My sister used this last night on her hair and I actually couldn't believe the results.

I paid 175 to get my hair stripped before. Digusted I didn't go down this route first.

I had almost same dyed hair, dark brown black, turned out nice golden colour, lots of grey too :) you only have to use it once to work.

Then i just used a temp colour, 6 wash colour for a few weeks, to let my hair rest. As i found it really drying, my own fault for not putting in conditioner after b4.

Now my hair is dyed light brown.

After years of colouring my hair, its oversaturated with dye, and way too dark(apart from the grey roots:D) so i'm going to try the extra strength tonight. Hopefully it will turn out okay, but just incase i have a box of dark brown haircolour handy to cover any mistakes!! I'll try to take some pictures too and upload them....wish me luck lol

    Good luck with it!

I used the regular on mine, it lightened it a bit, not a whole lot, it has coppery tones in it now. I'll definitely pick up the extra strength one when i see it!

So forgot all about updating, and loaned my camera to my sister so no pics  Tried it about a week and a half ago, and it stripped out quite a lot of the dye, but as my hair is soooo dark i knew it would need a second box. I left it for a week or so to normalise a bit, and then used a second box of
    extra strength this evening.....

-Mixed it together, put it in my hair(its rather dry, not at all like colouring your hair so no need to worry about it dripping) washed the dishes while i was waiting the 20 minutes :D

-Rinsed it out and put the Buffer in(plucked my eyebrows while i was waiting for that 2 minutes to be up !)

-Rinse again, and shampoo with the rest of the buffer(smells like green apple shampoo my mother used to buy when we were kids!)

-Dried my hair, and what a result-almost all my grey is visible:eek: but all the dark colour is gone! Hair was a little bit red-brown, but quite nice actually. If i wasn't grey as a badger i would have left it that way!!

-Used a box of Nice and Easy in Dark Blonde to cover the greys and even out the tone and its fantastic now! Extremely soft and so shiny!! The only problem i had in the whole process was that the hot water ran out, otherwise i'm very impressed and would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

I bought this yesterday... didn't get a chance to use it yet. Was standing in Boots looking at the Regular v Extra Strength and bought Extra Strength!
I'm terrified to use it, I'm going to Liverpool in the morning for a 2 night break - afraid that it'll be a disaster if I use it before I go and I'll be white headed or something! :(

i bleached my hair and then dyed it a bright red but when i re-did it after a month or so (with the same brand and colour-crazy colour 'fire') it went really dark and deep rather than bright like last time:

1)does anyone have any idea why or how to stop this happening again?

    and

    2) im thinking of trying colour b4 on it (i dont think it works as well on those types of semis although afaik the buffers are supposed to do a good job on them) do you reckon it'll give me a good enough result to try the dye again to get my bright hair back or will i need to go the bleaching route again?

thanks for any help- i miss my hair! :P

The bleach will stay in your hair after colour before because that's permanent. Read up on it if your curious, http://www.scottcornwall.com/index.php/faq
If your hair was tends to go a darker then the colour on the bottle, it'll go darker for sure after you use colourB4, I made that mistake this time round

I used colour b4 today - better results than I expected. My hair is a light brown/caramel after using it (slightly ginger I suppose)
I'll leave it a few washes and put in a 28 wash colour in light brown.. Want to try keep my hair as free of chemicals as possible from now on!

    Hi there,

I've just used one box of this stuff tonight - my hair is naturally fair, but i've been dying it dark brown for years!

Very happy with the result, hair is a strawberry blonde/caramel colour. Would love to put some highlights in it tomorrow. Does anyone know if this is recommended? I know it's not the best for my hair, but would the colour take correctly?

    Thanks!

I really want to try this out. Doies anyone know if it would be suitable for thin and fine hair or would it be too strong. I can't get my hair stripped in a salon as it would prob end up falling out but if this was milder I would be tempted

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 343 ✭✭Geansai Rua

Well it doesnt make your hair dry or anything like that, so it shouldnt make your hair fall out!!
After I used it my hair was in much better condition than I thought it would be...

    Well impressed with it!

I think I will give it a try so, and keep the fingers crossed that there won't be disasterous results!

Hi all, just been reading through the thread and like the sound of this product. Has anyone got any pictures to post of before and after? I am a bit nervous to use. I don't really want ginger hair :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 972 ✭✭✭moco

I used this stuff on Saturday but don’t have before and after pics! My hair was dyed black and I’ve been putting black, permanent colours in every few weeks for the past few years. I got the extra strength one and kept it on for an hour. The lengths of my hair didn’t lighten much, but the top did. It has a ginger tinge to it, but it’s not a bad colour. I’m going to try another box of the extra strength one this week but just not put it on at the roots and hope the colour evens out a bit.

I think cos there was so much colour build up on my hair it didn’t work out so great.

Sorry to drag this thread up again, but I didn't want to start a new one.

Just wondering how this product works on highlighted hair done in a hairdressers.

The colour in about 6 months now, and I don't have the cash to go to the hairdressers at the moment and don't want to risk putting in a colour which doesn't match with what's in my hair already. (I'm also too impatient to let it grow out as my hair is about mid-back length).

    Thanks in advance.

No, don't use it. It can't darken your hair, it can only remove dye, highlights are bleach.

there's info on the FAQ section,

Use a semi that's about what your natural hair colour was, it sorted mine out when I got highlights

I went looking for this in two of the Boots stores in Cork city today. In the big one near Opera Lane and the other on Patricks street and couldn't find it :(

Was wondering if anyone knew anywhere else in Cork city where you can buy it?

I'm not in an emergency, I just want to get rid of the dark brown hair I have and make it lighter as it's too dark for me!

I finally found the Regular Colour B4 today in boots. No extra strength, but I thought I'd give this a go anyway.

I had dark red-ish hair up until last year and I've been going a shade lighter every few months. However the bottom of my hair has always been darker.

Just used it and my hair is now completely dry...there is a slight ginger tint of it but its definitely a lighter brown, with darker ends. I'm not sure if I like it or not yet as it looks different everytime I look at it.

I'm thinking of going to try and find the extra strength version tomorrow to try that to see if I can get it lighter, but I'll leave this colour until tomorrow.

As for the feel of my hair, it feels the same as after I normally wash my hair except the smell of rotten eggs from the product is still lingering around.

Hi just wondering if anyone can advise me!

I've been dying my hair red with months. In January I bleached my hair put a red Loreal colour in. I used crazy and jeans colours so hair was fiery red. I've toned it down now but still red would this product work for me? I'm looking to go blonde. Thanks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,390 ✭✭✭Stench Blossoms

You would probably need to use two bottles of it.

I wouldn't be sure, because it can't take out stains and I know sometimes red hair dye actually stains the hair, I don't know the chemistry behind it but it might not take it out.
I did use it to take two layers of colour off, one pure red (brighter then Florence and the machine) and then a dark brown to hide the hair disaster, and I couldn't see any red left (but I naturally am strawberry blonde), but it may have just washed out of my hair like red usually does?

Your hair will go orange as red is very hard to lift out, and you have bleached it underneath (happened to me)

Get a semi permanent light brown to put on after

Just saw this product on expose, I was told by a hair dressers they wouldn't strip my hair, I've been home dying for years and am naturally dark blonde but in the last year have gone from really blonde to brown to dark red, I'd love to use this but bricking it I'd look like a mongo and not be able to show my face in public! Has anyone turned a really dodgy colour?

My hair was bleached with bright red over it so it turned an orange colour (which is technically the natural colour) but I just put a semi permanent in after using the colour b4 and all was well.

Exact same as me, was blonde and have been dying my hair at home for years. After I took out the remover the first time, my hair ended up a light brown after the regular strength stuff.

I used the Extra strength about two weeks later and it didn't make a difference. Now about a month on, my hair is brown with parts (that are not uneven or unnaturally looking) that are still deep red and golden coloured.

My hair looks clearer and cleaner since I used it, like there isn't a build up of colours.

Let us know how you get on legallyblonde86

My hair has layers of dye, and was bleached a few years ago (3 years ago, so it's probably all grown out?). I was going to use the extra strength one to strip it to remove all the colour and then dye it again.

Although I'm only young, I have loads of grey hair (only visible on my roots at present) but I assume when I use this the greys will be visible from root to tip! For that reason I'd want to colour it pretty much the day after I colour strip it! Would that be ok on my hair, or should I wait longer?

Just use the wash out Ash Blonde colour thats recommended, it won't cover all the grey but will tone it it well, you won't see big streaks of grey at all :D. I have ton of grey and when I was finished the whole process you couldn't notice the grey much at all. Leave your hair as long as you can to put another permanent colour in, at least a few washes, to let it recover, and you'll be grand!

Going to use this over the weekend!!Have been dying my hair medium to dark brown for almost a year(this time, I change my hair colour a lot) Sam McCauleys only have the regular strenght one, has anyone been able to buy the extra strenght one in boots in cork recently?????

Just put this in my hair... I've been dying it every colour for years now but I think I only ever bleached it all once... It was a mid brown colour this morning, with fringe bleached and pink over that (which has faded so much...) It doesnt stink too much to me, and i actually think it smells slightly like grapefruit and strawberries!!!... Though my windows are wide open :P
Since I've no cling film-like it recommends-Im using tin foil, so my head is burning ever so slightly, but nothing like bleach would make it!! And i've read people saying they could see the colour lifting while they waited, but I cant, so I'm slightly worried it wont work, but I did a strand test the other day and that worked brilliant so fingers crossed... Gonna go wash it off now... Wish me luck...

P.S. For anyone into the crazy hair colours, I find this forum quite helpful-its not Irish but some people on it are :)
    Enjoy :)

Well its washed out now... Took AGES to wash out but oh my gosh is it Blonde!!!! My natural colour is a kind of strawberry blonde but I dont remember it being this bright!? I'm SO happy with it :D The bits of faded pink are still hanging around, but they were fairly faded so I'm O.K with that  It does still smell a bit funny, and worse than earlier, but it'll be grand. I used L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore Conditioner on it as i was feeling very rough and tangled in the shower and it looks no drier than usual now! :P Happy Bunny! :D:)

Ok so I was a bit unsure about using this because there are a lot of mixed reviews online. My hair was dark brown and the ends were almost dark brown to black from using permanent home dyes for a few years. I used the stronger version( think it was advanced or extra strength) and I have quite thick hair so needed two bottles of it.

So followed the steps and when I dried my hair the roots were gone blonde and the rest of my hair was gone a light to medium brown....quite close to my natural colour! So as recommended I put in a light ash brown 6-8 shampoo colour, and this evened up the colour all over, this went darker than I expected but it faded over a few washes.

To finish it off then I put in a Loreal home highlighting kit about a week later and now my hair is pretty much a close to its natural colour as possible!!!

Cost in total about 50 euro, compared to when I spent over 200 euro to get it stripped in Peter Marks a few years ago!!!

And my hair is in much better condition now than it was after getting it done in Peter Marks (it was literally like baby hair/straw in parts until it grew out after that time)

Overall I think it is an excellent product and saves you a fortune in getting it done professionally!

    Im delighted with the results!!!

I used colou b4 before to get black out and went dark brown but then I got bored and dyed it black again.

I then bleached my hair and the other day dyed it a brown colour but it is the most boring brown I could possibly have so i'm planning on using the colour b4 later.

I've no idea what colour my hair will turn out as it was bleached and then a few different blondes put over it before this brown but i'll post pictures up here when i'm done!

Found this product great! I had a bit of a disaster two months ago when i used a John Freda hair dye supposedly a red mahogany colour. It turned out a dark brown (didn't like it at all!!) Anyhow i went off and bought colour b4, put it in my hair (quite smelly:() Then washed it out and was left with a mustard orange colour to my hair:eek: (i got some fright lol)

It took two packets of hair dye after this to get to the firey red i have in my hair now:D happy days.

If your looking for this to bring your hair back to your natural colour I'd think twice cause mine was not anyway near my natural colour (thank god i had a dye ready to go straight in afterwards) But if it's just to remove a build up of dye to redye then....Totally worth it!!!

I'm going hunting for this product tomorrow - I've been colouring my hair various shades of blonde and red for years but I decided I wanted to get closer to my natural colour, which is a deep brown, so I decided to put in a semi-permanent dark brown too see how I like it. Most of my hair came out black, but the dye didn't seem to take to odd patches so some of it was a dirty coppery colour - my friend thought I had just missed a big patch at the back of my head!

I have a wedding on Friday so I cannot keep it the way it is; I look ridiculous, so I'm really hoping this colour remover will work and restore some normality to my hair. If not, there is going to be a panicked trip to the hairdresser!
