Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Restore a PC to a clean install?

A friend of mine has a PC that he lets his 3 kids loose on. Possibly related to that is the fact that the PC is now riddled with trojans, spyware, crapware and other nonsense. He didn't bother with an uninstaller or any other sort of backup, and the XP (for it is Windows XP) have long since been confined to the dustbin. I don't think system restore (assuming it was running and he can restore to a clean point some 6 months ago) is going to be the answers to his problems, but short of uninstalling by hand each and every app and then running HijackThis and everything else on it for a few weeks, I'm not sure what he can do.

Is there a magic button that will allow him to do basically a factory reset of the PC and make it all clean and nice again?

Borrow an XP installation disc but use the original key on the PC.

A lot of pcs will have a hidden partition on hard disk, from which you bring the pc back to the state you bought it in. To do this you press one of the f keys during boot it. The key varies with maker , so google will help u there . This process wipes the hard drive, so back up any data needed.
