Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Difference between Manufacturer 2 year warranty and a Dealership 12 month warranty

    Hi all,

Looking at picking up a car from the UK but I have a query (thanks for all help to date by the way).

I'm looking at a 2009 A6, have yet to find one but I see a lot of dealerships in the UK & up North (as well as down here) advertising them with a 12 month dealership warranty as well as the remainder of the manufacturer warranty.

Can somebody please tell me what is the difference between the manufacturer 2/3 year warranty and a Dealership 12 month warranty???

Also, why is it a 2 year manufacturer warranty in Ireland and a 3 year in the UK?

    Thank you folks

The manufacturer's warranty means that you can take the car to be repaired under warranty to any offical dealership of that manufacturer. In other words you could take the A6 to any Audi dealer for warranty work for the duration of that warranty. The Audi dealer will then claim back the cost of the work and labour from Audi.

The additional dealer warranty means that that particular dealer will repair the car for the duration of his warranty out of his own pocket. You cannot bring the car to any other dealer as it is only between you and the dealer you bought the car from. The dealer warranty might also have certain conditions or limitations on it such as they will only cover engine and gearbox problems.

Cheers Bazz-tought there may be labour cost restrictions or other restrictions with the Dealership warranty

There more than likely is, as always it's very important to read the small print before committing.
