Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This could be a silly silly risk. Rooney takes to the field with a bullseye on his leg. If I were an opposition defender, I know what I would do.

Could be bye bye his world cup and all.

Playing Rooney if his not 100 percent is a joke , honestly I can't see how he could be,
The question was asked about if he scored the winner , yes of course we/utd fans will be happy .But I'll be a hell of alot happier to see him walking off the field at the end of the game fit and sound regardless of the scoreline

Bayern will deffo test his ankle tonight.

A few yellows probably worth it to get him off the pitch.

Once Fergie said Rooney was out you knew he was going to be at least on the bench. Fergie mind tricks are not what they used to be

Fergie letting his heart rule his head, like Wenger last week.

    Could be costly.

    Could be inspired.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,432 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Was gonna say a day or 2 ago that Gibson would be a good option if only because he is different to the other midfielders at the club and will take risks going forward. With Carrick playing deep it'll free up Gibbo and Fletch to run amok.

Also, Bayern like Barcelona  good one Bill

Love the anti United waffle from the Panel . .

Ok . . If Messi has a chance to start for Barca who are trailing from a first leg defeat, he starts . .

In fact it happened 2 years ago. . Messi had been injured in the leadup to the games against united and they risked him . .

Any team who has a talent like Messi, Rooney, Ronaldo or Torres will play them if they can in uniteds position . . Was waiting for the 45 mins of pre match united bashing and RTE panel didnt let me down . . .

Putting Rooney on so soon after this injury doesn't give any help countering the accusations that Man Utd are a one man team!!

Could be costly in the long run which of course would only benefit the rest of us, should be one hell of an interesting game:D

Gibson gets some doing from the RTE Panel. Don't think the lad has done all that much wrong when he's played for us. Hasn't been unreal, but not shocking bad either. His long range shots might help.

They called Ronaldo a show pony the season he scored 41 goals , so lets not put too much importance to the sh*t they subject us all to. .

can you give us an evaluation of the injury then so we know what it's like?

Jesus Christ, the amount of 'experts' on injuries here is annoying. If the was a huge risk he wouldn't be playing.

Well. I had a feeling about Rooney alright. Probably playing with a tapecast and why not. He'll be edgy with it but ghe cast should make sure no greater damage will be done. Biggest game of the year. Ferguson obviously thinks he can't do without him.

Wouldn't be the same to beat Utd without him anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,092 ✭✭✭Le King

Wow, didn't expect that team at all.

    Absolute madness.

Either Fergie mind-games or a absolute insane risk.

According to Rayo, Fergie doesnt have faith in Berbatov. Which is why he playing Rooney.

Indeed, united shouldn't play him even if he's fit just to prove to the ABU's they are not a one man team

According to Rayo united are desperate for wanting to play their best player .. Certainly wouldnt see any other top team trying to play their best player in a tie they are losing, defo no hint of bitterness in his comments . . .:eek:

Can't help wondering if Park is injured at all given that he is not on the bench?
Really would have thought himself, Fletch & Carrick would be in the middle.

Hope Rooney's ok tonight: fingers, toes, everything crossed - I don't think I've ever been so surprised with a team line-up! At least if Rooney has to go off we have Gibbo to take the free kicks - I don't even want to try and remember the Carrick effort a few weeks back...

I don't pretend to know anything about his injury or even whether Man Utd is a "one man team" or not....
I was only making the point that this decision to put him on could be used by some to further their argument that Man Utd is a "one man team"

Not my argument, only an observation

people saying that it was just mind games is nonsense, we saw him twist his ankle, he didn't play against Chelsea, his leg was in plaster and he was on crutches. he was injured. the prognosis for the injury was 2-4 weeks, a week later he's playing. its a risk. rooney is a good player, but he ain't the bionic man. bayern should boot the ankles off him.
