Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

BBC have it as breaking news that Rooney starts.

I'm sure he wouldn't be playing if he was completely ****ed. We don't know the extent of the damage and he could well be completely fine. I've seen players, locally, have injuries that have been diagnosed as weeks out but have been fine then the following week.

He wouldn't have come through 3 training sessions and a training match without a reaction if it wasn't right.

Lets just hope this doesn't do him in.

If he scores the the goal thats puts through you wont care :D.

I'm shocked myself, never expected it. I thought he make the Blackburn game but again maybe the bench, SAF and his mind games :)

    Berbatov back to the bench?

Could backfire the way gallas and fabregas did for arsenal last week. shows his desire though, he would play on crutches if he could

dont agree with it either. i think we should have enough to get tru at home without him. big risk alex i hope you know what your doing!!!

Rooooooooooney, Rooooooooooney.........although......surely he should only be called on IF we need him.

****ing lunacy to play him from the start (or in the worst case if we absolutely need him) if he isn't 100% fit.

its quite remarkable how little faith Ferguson has in Berba.

Exactly what i was said before about the current squad and just how reliable Rooney has become.

I wonder if the writing is on the wall for Berbatov come the summer, he might decide himself and ask for a transfer.

3/1 Rooney first goal is a must, quickly before its gone

I'm half delighted and half sick that its a risk too far,

Gotta trust Fergie though. He wouldn't let his heart rule his head when it comes to a player's long term health.

    Would he?
Ferguson himself said yesterday it was ankle ligament damage, it takes time, no matter who ya are. Really baffling stuff.

How bad are SSN, in fairness, it has been confirmed by BBC also its been all over twitter since FIVE live confirmed it too

If United lose this thread is going 100 pages.

    200 if Rooney re-injures the ankle.:pac:

Unless it was all mind games.

I trust Fergie to do the right thing.

more fergie mind games, the lad wasn't injured at all, or if he was it was very minor

I'm shocked by this - and I'm sure the suprise element was part of Fergie's plan. But i really really really hope that this isn't a gamble with Rooney's health at stake.

Theyre only picking up on "rumours that Rooney may start" now. Ridiculous how behind they are these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Bukman13

People saying hes 50% fit is ridiculous, he wouldn't be starting if that was the case.

If he is fit enough for the bench then starting him was the right option.

What would've happened if we conceeded in the first min, at what point would we have brought him on.

This way if we can get a lead we can take him off.

Maybe Rooney was grand all along, leading the Bayern into a false sense of security? :)

    Either way, FÚCK YES!!!

I'm hoping the severity of his injury was just severly over played by Fergie as an element of mind games. I'm not sure if Fergie would do this, but maybe he would,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,950 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Gibson and Carrick?!

So we'll have someone who likes to go anywhere but forward with the ball and another one who likes to run away from the ball.

    Interesting.

    No Scholes, Giggs or Neville.

    Fairplay fergie.

This is an enormous show of faith in the Irishman. He's starting ahead of Scholes, Giggs and Park.

Its all psychological from Fergie because Rooney didnt arrive on the team bus with the squad. He turned up 5mins later at Old Trafford by car!

Rooney scores but injures himself enough to be out of the world Cup.
    I have seen the future.
