Sounds like maybe door to door salesperson. Or telesales if they've set up somewhere?

That is what I am thinking but it says retail store.

It says it is located 24 lady lane which from goggle maps is a house not a retail shop.

Also says need to be over 18 to apply which is a bit strange for retail.

Just looking into it for a friend and it looks a bit dodgy to me.

I applied to three different ads : Customer service, retail and "barista"

They are ALL door to door jobs selling electricity. Commission only.

Same case with a friends of mine. I am unsure why they are advertising them as that, it is very misleading

    Red Hat
Open source software provider Red Hat also had good news on the job front today, investing €12.7 million and committing to the creation of another 60 jobs in Waterford over the next four years.

The company provides services in the areas of big data, cloud computing and online security.

Its Waterford site began as a spin-out from Waterford Institute of Technology in 2014, and acts as the research and development hub for mobile app development for the US-based company.

Red Hat also has offices in Dublin and Cork.

Minister for Jobs Mary Mitchell O’Connor said the announcement heralded a “great day for Waterford and the south east region.”

It is actually seriously impressive to get this kind of investment. I’m surprised there has not been more talk about it.

Don't know anything about West Pharma but I applied for one of those Council positions too and haven't heard anything back other than the generic email to say aptitude tests would be next

A lot of chefs go to different hotels or pubs etc, its the nature of the trade as well. THe man who runs the Bay Tree used to work in different pubs around the town before setting up on his own.

think he worked in the showboat before it closed, heard good things about the bay tree

Id say been a chef is a stressful job but theres quite a few courses around for that professon in Waterford

speaking of courses im finding hard to find a part time course that would mean something employment wise. I have a higher cert qualification in Tourism but jobs are not around in that sector atm. Im not too pushed about going back to WIT full time and be stuck with a load of teenagers or going to WCFE. Im very good at computers but dont want to waste money on the ECDL (a bit outdated nowadays)

We change places of work after a year or two to prevent routine, burnout and keep learning how to cook food. Experience from many kitchens really helps when adapting to new place. Also bottom line salary is roughly 19kpa so if line cooks will get an offer for extra 20 euros per week from competitors they will accept it with no doubts. Imho that doubles rotation on bottom line.

When we believe to have enough experience in cooking (it's never enough tbh) we change workplace again and apply for a higher positions for example senior CDP or sous (head chef's right hand). From this moment rotation slows down as there's much more to learn from manager position and salary is better.

Once we believe that we have enough experience in managing whole kitchen, staff, dealing with suppliers, accounts, calculating costs etc, then we look around for opportunity to get head chef's position and decent job for long term.

That's why there are so many ads for commis, de parties, kitchen assistants, line chefs jobs and very little for head chefs or managers.

i know plenty that bailed ship due to stressful working conditions, crap money, unsociable working hours and generally being treated like crap. sounds like a dreadful industry to work in.

It's all about moving onwards and upwards faster than getting depressed :)

    Here's interesting article about it:

ah theres only so much 'onwards and upwards' one can do, particularly when normal life stuff occurs, i.e. kids, mortgages, general life etc etc. i dont think its a career for the faint hearted anyway.

stressful working conditions, crap money, unsociable working hours and generally being treated like crap. sounds like a dreadful industry to work in.

Stressful working conditions let you build up immunity for stressful situations in everyday life. Where most people would sit down and cry chef would deal with the **** and carry on:)

Money is not really crap - in most case scenario there's a benefit in kind, tips, free staff food, free access to leisure centres, etc which allows you to save a good few bobs.

Unsociable working hours - we don't need to socialise after work. We do it during the work:) If we don't socialise enough during the work hen we hang out together after work and come back next day:)

Being treated like a crap - I would love to say it's not happening. However it applies mostly to weakest part of the group. If you show that you're strong, you're not full of crap, do your job without complaining that its hard plus show some interest and passion about food then you're not treated like a crap.

There's only so much 'onwards and upwards' one can do, particularly when normal life stuff occurs, i.e. kids, mortgages, general life etc etc
That's the reason why every chef should climb fast into the stable and properly paid position. Not everyone is able to work in a kitchen. If it's difficult from the begining then there's no point forcing yourself to stay in this industry.

I prefer this than working for a big chain corporation like Tesco, Dunnes or factory - crap money, being treated like a stupid monkey with written precedures for every aspect of life at work. If somebody piss you off you can't just tell'em 'fup off ya pedrophile'. because that will cost you a job. Sounds like a dreadful industry for me:) Kitchens are last places in the world where is a real freedom of speech - you can insult everybody and everybody can insult you:D
