Agreed. That a mod does it is particularly disconcerting (the words "Failure so epic that even Jesus cant bare to look rules out any ambiguity as to mods intention here) as you say that it was in response to someone who had just joined. I really do think that Mods set the tone and I think that post sent out all the wrong signals regardless of the merit of that post.

Well its disconcerting to you because your the one who doesn't like such pictures. Ok, your free to make your point and all but as an internet forum you'll find plenty of ways to reply to a thread by non standard means including pictures, text acronyms or lolcats. If you think a specific forum might benefit from the absence of pictures ala AH, then i'd suggest you bring it up on the relevant forum, but to describe it as the lowest form of posting and to seek an official policy on it is a bit lame imho.

Some other poster pointed that particular post out which is what i was responding to. Picture posting is okay but context has to be right and done in the right spirit.

But thats just it, we all have different views of context etc. so its really a case of one man's meat is another man's poison. I don't think you can say someone is wrong for posting a pictorial response, unless of course its hardcore porn or something distasteful.

The point im making is that while the Mod probably was probably expressing some frustration at the post which even made me smile a bit I dont think the Mod of that forum should have done it to a poster who had just started out in their career here on Boards. We should to all intents and purposes show a bit more restraint and occassionally those type of posts can be a bit off putting.

Was this one really necessary from a moderator on the forum he moderates, to a new poster to the site. Surely posting that image only served to ostracise the poster.

This isn't meant as a criticism of the mod in particular but I think it just serves to highlight a point that SOTS was trying to make.
It wasn't in any ways meant as an insult to the poster or to ostracize him.. it was an insult to TV3!

Notice how I included the title - "On TV3 this morning..." - to say that they actually took the time on morning TV to discuss fecking hair straighteners.

The poster didn't seem that bothered. If he took offence to it, I would have clarified!

The post was simply an injection of humour on a Monday morning.. nothing more, nothing less!

Yeah see what youre saying but the text "Failure so epic that even Jesus cant bare to look" is misleading Basquille. Do you see where we are coming from. I think the poster who is new to this site might not have been up and the subtleties of face palming.

I didn't make the image.. I chose it on a whim!

"Failure so epic that even Jesus cant bare to look"

Maybe it's incinuating our Lord can't bear to look at TV3's morning show.. not the poster's opening post! :pac:

If the OP took offence to it, I'd apologise and clarify but he seemed to downright brush over it. So either he's not bothered or he knows the "subtleties of face palming" well-enough.

EDIT: If you think I was harsh.. see how his thread was taken in Ladies Lounge

Think we can agree on that one. That show would test the patience of a saint ;)

Also referring to WTF picture posts. Had one today where poster used it because poster wasnt sure what post meant. But rather than ask me, poster posted a rather lame picture post and to be fair poster was pulled up on it by a few posters. Sometimes posters do it to get cheap laughs and thanks.

    was that myself?

do you take everything to heart? not everything is a massive dig at you, sometimes people are having a bit of fun, it is only the internet

    jesus lighten up

Jaysus was trying to keep your name out of it Event but cant say I was overly amused by it. Yeah its the internet but there is a time and place for things. Just dont know why you and other posters can articulate a bit better at times. Can live with it most of the time but occassionally it gets on my nerves.

no need to keep my name out of it, sure i did nothing wrong

yeah it happens, i havent been overly amused a lot of times with what has been posted in response to me by other posters, but i dont go making a thread about it

if it gets on your nerves, tbh you have to deal with it, not try and change boards completely

this is all IMO of course

there people go with me trying to change boards completely again. Gas stuff. Feedback threads are there for that purpose. To get a feel for the mood of the boards on a particular issue. Dont see anything wrong with thread as such. All im saying is that it can be hard to read the intent behind a picture post. Some people might not get poster is having a bit of fun. But I appreciate you meant no harm now so thanks for the post.

On a similar point, SOTS why do you send users who make a post in reference to you on a thread a PM to complain about what they wrote but have the option to reply disabled?

I didn't actually spot that bit in the title. So I guess its Monday morning doziness on my behalf. The OP didn't seem to take much offence to it anyway so he obviously picked up on what way it was intended. As delly I think pointed out, its all about context and some people will be upset because they can read it a different way to someone else.

Someone who quotes you with just a facepalm picture is the equivalent of one of thus ****tards with their trousers around their knees laughing at a middle-aged woman who's dropped a baguette.

Thread seems (like all the OP's various other threads in Feedback and Helpdesk) to be a means for SOTS to complain about a specific injustice he has suffered on the Socer forum masked under the thinly veiled guise of a general thread on the topic.

Needs his own subforum at this stage to be honest, its getting tedious.
