Hard to think of one that's my favourite. But I love Gojira's From Mars to Sirius cover.

Rather than an endless parade of pictures I'd like to hear people explain why they like the particular album cover. What do you find so interesting about that Deicide cover fartmaster?

Anyway, there have been a few recent album covers that I've quite liked but in terms of impact and due to the fact that I used to have a big poster of it on my bedroom wall I had to go for this:
    sepultura_arise.jpg

As I'm a big fan of the Cthulu mythos, images like this are really evocative to me.

Always loved this album cover purely for the amount of little in jokes, details and everything that's in it! Plus I love Eddie in his Terminator/Future-Cyborg-Assassin mode!

    Matches the theme of the album perfectly;
The "nakedness" of the couple as everything is laid bare
The distance forming between them that they try to bridge
The old and used look, which matches the relationship

Not too read too much into it :D

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Dream_Theater_-_Images_and_Words.jpg

Ok I love the covers for these two albums because I always thought that the names of each song were depicted in them.

In Awake you have The Mirror, 6:00 (With the clock in the moon), always thought the statue could be the Silent Man, the planets in the back Space Dye Vest, the man in the mirror seems to be disappearing which could be Innocence Faded, the spider in the web is obviously Caught in a Web.
The way the image is in colour in the mirror instead of grey could possibly be Lifting Shadows off a Dream.

As for Images and Words it's not as easy.

The moon could be Under a Glass Moon. The bed could be Wait for Sleep and the little kid could be the "Sleeper" for Metropolis part 1. The flaming heart might be interpreted as the "Miracle"

Again, some may be far fetched but those covers always made me think :P

Two of my [many] favourites here.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon. So simple yet so iconic.

    ngwp53.jpg

Emperor - s/t EP. Can't beat a bit of Gustave Doré.

    Rush_A_Farewell_to_Kings.jpg

I love the cover of Rush's "Farewell to Kings".
Mainly because of the way the "King" is depicted here in a sordid scene with his crown on the ground. It's just so awesome.

    chinese.democracy.front.jpg

In 2002 when Guns N' Roses played China, it was the only thing Axl had concrete decision on - this would be the cover, regardless of the fact it would take another six years for the album to be released. Its powerful and its not photoshopped (under Chinese vandalism laws if the person who wrote that on the wall had of been caught he risked imprisonment or even death), perhaps not the most iconic GNR album cover, but it still means something

A quite obvious one which always reminds me of Picasso:

Awesome album and cover. Some of my favourites:

    Moonspell-NightEternal.jpg

I love this cover, and to me it's one of the best Moonspell covers in a long time. The woman on the front of this album looks like the embodiment of night.

    FieldsoftheNephilim-TheNephilim.jpg

This looks like a really old book cover, with the swirly things on it as well.

    FieldsoftheNephilim-Elizium.jpg

I could never quite figure out this album cover, it's very weird but also really incredible.

    Amorphis-SilentWaters2.jpg

What I love about this cover is the way the swan is red, but the trees, river and sky are grey.

    noect.jpg

This has to be one of the best Nokturnal Mortum covers I've ever seen. To me it looks like some viking warrior working/forging a new sword with a statue of either a young women or man looking on.

Triptykon's new album cover, artwork by H R Giger:

I really like Isis' album covers even though they are very simple. Oceanic:
    0000352164_350.jpg
This one for Slough Feg's Traveller is just geekily awesome:
    Traveller.jpg
Irish black metal band Altar of Plagues album cover for White Tomb, perfectly describes the barren, desolate atmosphere of the album:

Some awful teenage fantasy sh-ite so far! :D

    tee-e-front.jpg

A perfectly realised image reflecting growing post-war confidence and international "sophistication" (who said they look like Showroom Dummies? ;) ).

"This has to be one of the best Nokturnal Mortum covers I've ever seen"

Agreed. Which is fitting because Голос Сталі is their best album to date as well!
