Bringing a car into the north

    Hi Folks,
My brother bought a car from Mercedes in Belfast a few years back and took it down south where he lives. He paid quite a bit on import tax to bring it down there. Now, I'm thinking about buying the car from him and putting Northern plates on it.
Is there a similar tax for me to bring the car into the north? What should I have to look out for?

    Cheers!

    There isn't a similar tax :)
Small few quid to register it I think, I mean small.

Thanks for you reply. I presume I would have to do that with the Irish licensing authority then? They'd have to clear the license from their end, rather than the current reg just disappearing when I take the plates off?

Can anybody verify this info for me please?

    Cheers!
