Dont know if you are aware of Genghis Con's work as a film make but this is just top drawer stuff - THIS is the standard for MMA vids IMO.

    Folks,

We were delighted to get a chance to talk to Conor about a range of topics - ranging from punching people - to the Irish MMA scene - and his "family" at SBG.

I hope you enjoy the read

SevereMMA.com: You recently announced that a number of UFC veterans have been signed to Cage Contender, and that Champion Cathal ‘The Punisher’ Pendred (9-2-1) will face Chris ‘The Westside Strangler’ Brennan (19-13-1). Any other matchups you would like to reveal?

John Ferguson: This fight has been postponed due to Cathal being injured, there will be a full announcement in regards to replacements etc soon.

But I can confirm that international grappling wizard Gunnar Nelson will be making his return to the Cage Contender octagon at this event!

SevereMMA.com - With Cage Contender having announced the signings of top fighters like Gunnar Nelson and Dean Lister, how much bigger do you see Cage Contender getting in 2012?

Stuart - I think we’ve only really reached the tip of the iceberg in terms of how big this promotion can be. There’s a reason why we’ve become so successful and that reason is John Ferguson. The bottom line is that people like and trust him, and he always follows through on his word which is why every gym in the country and beyond wants to have their fighters on the show. Every time we put on an event it gets a packed house in excess of 3.000 so the atmosphere at Cage Contender is unrivalled in Ireland, plus all the fights are well-matched and there is always entertainment for even a novice MMA fan. It’s very exciting this year to have so many UFC vets taking on our champions, and giving these Irish guys a chance to increase their profile and progress their careers. The UFC has been expanding very quickly too and is bound to be looking at more European expansion so we’re in an excellent position to capitalise on this potential growth.

cage-warriors.jpgThe USA TODAY Sports Media Group announced today that its MMA destination, MMAjunkie.com, will be the exclusive online home for live coverage of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship events in 2012.

Cage Warriors, the top MMA circuit in the U.K. and Europe, has sent many top prospects on to compete within organizations including the UFC, Strikeforce and Bellator. Additionally, many other notables – including Brian Foster, Matt Veach and Pascal Krauss – have competed within the fighter-friendly promotion.

MMAjunkie.com will provide free live streams of all 16 Cage Warriors shows in the coming year, including three during the month of February.

Cage Warriors has already scheduled 16 events in 13 countries for 2012, including events in England, Lebanon, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Poland, Turkey and Russia.

Additionally, a prospects-rich eight-man middleweight tournament will determine a new titleholder while notables such as Rosi Sexton and Aisling Daly are part of a four-slot women's championship tournament.

"We're excited to bring more great fights to our MMAjunkie.com community," said MMAjunkie.com editor-in-chief and co-founder Dann Stupp. "Our past Cage Warriors streams have been a big hit with Junkie Nation, and we look forward to streaming even more."

As part of the agreement, MMAjunkie.com will stream all live main cards from Cage Warriors' 2012 schedule. Preliminary-card bouts will stream live on Cage Warriors' Facebook page.

"To have one of the biggest MMA websites in the world partner with Cage Warriors is a big deal to our team," said Cage Warriors director Graham Boylan. "It shows that Cage Warriors is a promotion that ranks with the best when MMAjunkie.com decides to be our exclusive partner.

"Cage Warriors will showcase the fighters to the rest of the world and open the eyes of the bigger organizations to the talent that's out there, as we are one of the top feeder shows and will continue to grow talent for the big guns. We are very proud to say our media partner is MMAjunkie.com and the USA TODAY Sports Media Group."

In addition to MMAjunkie.com's online stream, Cage Warriors broadcasts its events on Sky Sports (U.K.), Fight Now TV (U.S.) and The Fight Network (Canada), among other TV outlets.

The 2012 Cage Warriors schedule includes:
    • Saturday, Feb. 11 – Beirut, Lebanon (CWFC Fight Night 3)
    • Saturday, Feb. 18 – London, United Kingdom (CWFC 45)
    • Thursday, Feb. 23 – Ukraine (CWFC 46)
    • Friday, March 16 – Dubai, United Arab Emirates
    • Thursday, April 12 – Saudi Arabia
    • Thursday, May 3 – Qatar
    • Saturday, May TBA – Dublin, Ireland
    • Saturday, June 16 - Turkey
    • Saturday, July 7 – Poland
    • Saturday, July 21 – London, United Kingdom
    • Saturday, July 28 – Ukraine
    • Thursday, Aug. 30 – Amman, Jordan
    • Saturday, September (TBA) – Russia (TBA)
    • Friday, Oct. 19 – Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
    • Saturday, Nov. 17 – Hungary
    • Friday, Nov. 30 – Kuwait
    • Friday, Dec. 14 – Dubai, United Arab Emirates

This has to be great news for all Irish fighters getting a chance to fight on a Cage Warriors card. With the events streaming on MMAjunkie.com the extra exposure these guys will get could help attract the attention of the UFC and get a few Irish lads in the organisation.

This Saturday Man of War returned with a great card for their third event and first since Shiel took the Middleweight title from Fadipe in October. The card consisted of 10 bouts; 2 contested under the junior class rules, 6 C-class rules fights (3 of which were for a title) and two pro bouts, both for titles. The two headline fights we’re international affairs as the Boxing Clinic’s Malko brothers took on fighters representing Team Pythagore in France. This was the first Irish MMA event of 2012 and the standard has been set. Saturday’s card showcased the best young fighters in the country and fans we’re treated to nine first round finishes. The hugely entertaining fights were accompanied by great production quality and congratulations to Stefan Moriarty and anyone else that helped organise the event.
