Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wow almost half the posts have been entries already, that must be some kinda record , but.......

I think we really need to have a discussion thread opened alongside the actull thread for entries becuase there is too much "healthy discussion" going on between the photos they are kinda destroying the threads, they are too messy, dont get me wrong the discussion is great but i makes the thread hard to follow sometimes, the last few assignments have been like this, anyone agree???

P.S. and i suppose im contribuiting to the messiness of the thread by posting this, lol.

Really like that Buzz, what kind of PP did you use?

Cheers Sprinkles. Thanks for the compliment. I'm just seeing your post now :o

I did several process to the image to get it to where I liked it.
I monochromed the image, then adjusted curves on the trees to fade them further into the background. I then applied a sepia tone to the overall image before popping through the faded coloured headscarf and jeans. ;)

You don't have to verbally communicate with someone to interact with them to get their consent...a nod at the camera and a raised eyebrow is all it took....some people jumping to their conclusions and onto their high horses

I genuinely think there is a need to define clearly what a

    Portrait

    photo is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,967 ✭✭✭mrmac

imho - this thread is full of oustanding examples of what a portrait is.
Each one portrays the person, as viewed, or interpreted, by the artist - and captures a small moment in time of that persons (or cats!) life! You can create a story from every picture just by their expression, - without having a clue as to what's actually going on!
In my opinion, (without forcing it on anyone), that is what makes a portrait.

I remember being at a union/management meeting years ago when it was pointed out to the main Union rep that what he was suggesting was actually against their own written Rules. His reply was...

'The Rules are only there as a Guidance':)

(and it is a brilliant photo)

Wow - I don't have anything like a 1.4 - the way it throws the background so much out of focus is just great.
