Clive Wilson volleyed home the goal of the match as a star-studded Spurs Legends team comfortably beat Green Hearts FC on Sunday.

The legends XI included the likes of Paul Allen, Tony Galvin, Graham Roberts, Steve Sedgley, Garry Brooke and Mark Falco and coasted to an impressive 8-2 win at AFC Hornchurch's Bridge Avenue ground in Upminster.

Falco opened the scoring with a header from Mark Stimson's cross, Wilson finished one-on-one for 2-0 and Sedgley lobbed home the third on 2-1 minutes,

Steve Smart added the fourth before Wilson's spectacular fifth, a stunning 25-yard volley that flew into the top corner.

Guest player Simon Stebbing grabbed the sixth at the start of the second half, Green Hearts rallied to make it 6-2 but Spurs weren't on the back foot for long as Stimson looped home the seventh and Harry Sedgley, Steve's 15-year-old son, completed the scoring.

Spurs Legends: Barlow, Allen, Galvin, Roberts, Polsten, Smart, Sedgley, Wilson, Brooke, Stimson, Falco.

    NEXT LEGENDS' FIXTURE

The Legends are next in action at Fleet Town on Sunday, April 18. Fleet are managed by former White Hart Lane midfielder Andy Sinton, who is expected to turn out for Spurs. The match kicks-off at 2pm.

Les Ferdinand, David Howells and Espen Baardsen all lined-up as Spurs Legends were beaten 3-1 by another ex-Spur Andy Sinton's Fleet Town on Sunday.

Sinton, a League Cup winner during his time at the Lane between 1996-99, is now manager of the Ryman League side and played a half for each team at Fleet's Calthorpe Park.

Striker Ferdinand made his first appearance for the Legends this season but it was goalkeeper Baardsen who thrilled the 500-plus crowd with a string of fine saves.

Howells and Ferdinand went close before the first of Baardsen's saves but the home side took the lead after 34 minutes.

Garry Brooke tried his luck from a free-kick just after the restart before Fleet doubled their lead on 52 minutes. Howells tucked away a penalty to make it 2-1 midway through the half before Baardsen's heroics kept Fleet at bay again.

Fleet eventually restored their two-goal lead but there was still time for one more Spurs effort as Tim O'Shea headed just over from Sinton's cross.

Spurs Legends: Espen Baardsen, Dave Howells, Richard Cooke, Tim O'Shea, Tony Galvin, Clive Wilson, Mark Falco, Garry Brooke, Steve Smart, Neil Smith, Les Ferdinand. Subs: Glen Southam, Andy Sinton.

Will always remember Galvin for the shin pads...

John Lacy made his first appearance for the Spurs Legends side as a team of ex-White Hart Lane favourites ran out comfortable winners on a gloriously sunny day in Hertfordshire.

Lacy partnered Graham Roberts in the heart of the defence, while Garry Brooke, Steve Sedgley and Mark Stimson were also in form for a charity match in Letchworth.

The match was watched by over 1,000 fans, and it wasn't long before Spurs went in front.

Following an attack down the right, Steve Smart fired past the advancing Letchworth keeper nine minutes in, before Smart was again on hand to make it 2-0 just after the quarter-hour mark as the defence was caught napping.

Letchworth applied some pressure as they tried to get back into the game, but they fell further behind on 33 minutes when Stimson fired home.

Letchworth had the ball in the net following a glancing header shortly afterwards but the effort was ruled out, and with the home players still protesting, Spurs went back on the offensive and Steve Sedgley duly scored to make it 4-0. The hosts did finally get on the scoresheet on 38 minutes.

The second half failed to produce as many goals with several players tiring in the heat, but there was still enough left in the tank for substitute Micky Jarrett to make it five.

Spurs Legends: Tony Tillbrook, Andy Edmonds, Tony Galvin, Graham Roberts, John Lacy, Mark Stimson, Garry Brooke, Steve Sedgley, Glen Southam, Steve Smart, Mark Falco. Sub: Micky Jarrett.
