    Oh dear...... :o

    1) The case already has a PSU, so in effect you have two PSUs there.

    2) Both PSUs combined would probably give you less power than a Corsair CX400. And roughly 1x10^14 times the chance of FIREBALL  They're really bad :o

    3) You've put a LGA775 mobo up there, but what CPU would you be putting in it?

    Aside from that:

Case is naff and incompatible with the mobo.

PSU is redundant, horribly cack and effectively incompatible as it will FIREBALL you :o Same applies to the one that comes with the naff and incompatible case above :o

Mobo might or might not be okay, depending on the rest of your stuff you haven't listed. Its only a budget model though (G31 doesn't win any awards as a chipset, southbridge is a millionty years old at this point :o).

Fair enough. Its just a college assignment to spec a budget computer for a student so thats why i chose the cheapest of everything.

Will be putting Core 2 Duo processor on the mobo.

You should find the threads here about the cheap Aldi PCs, guys here tried finding parts that would be just as cheap, more or less have your assignment done for you already.

I have all the parts noted at this stage really.

Changed the case so can you tell me if these 3 parts will work together.

    Case:

    PSU:

    Motherboard:

Also regarding the case, how do the usb and audio ports on the front of the case work with the motherboard. How are they both connected?

A cases usb and audio connectors will be industry standard so the connectors will link into the relevant sockets on the motherboard.

What's the budget for the system you are building as that PSU breaks one of the main rules of system building - never scrimp on the PSU :)

Well at the moment its totalling 590 euro. There is no set budget but I wouldnt want to go much more expensive than that as it is supposed to be a budget pc for a student.

Can you recommend a good relatively cheap psu?

The Corsair line of PSU's are very good and come in a vast amount of specs to fit any budget with the basic TX series or the modular TX series. Another option is a pre-built via Dell or Aldi as Scumlord mentioned.

The best advice for you is to state what you need the PC for, list the items you currently have and an overall budget and let the geeks here build you a kick ass system.

WHY NOT USE THE WINNING PC BUILD FROM THE KOMPLETE 500 EURO BUILD THREAD sorry about caps

Argh! Don't know what I was looking at, that mobo is mATX and would fit in the smaller case. Sorry.

My comments about it all being rubbish still apply though! If the whole thing still comes to €590 even with that rubbish you'd better give us the full list so we can help you avoid impending disaster! :o

    1) Cheapest of everything sure ain't €590!
    2) Guys, I think we're dealing with a "must build" situation here so buying a cheap Medion/Packard Bell and slamming a graphics card into it isn't going to work here :o
    3) If a lecturer wants to see this work and is in any way good with electronics or IT you could get ripped a new one for speccing that kind of PSU...

    You should be! :P

I'd like to say something rude at this point but that sentence doesn't even make contextual sense!!:o

Getting it all from Dabs doesn't help! :p Pixmania, Komplett, HWVS and eBuyer would all be better bets.

Another thing that doesn't help is needing all peripherals and an OS. Monitor + OS is easily €200+ gone from a budget. This is so crippling the usual advice is to look for decent entry-level rigs in Currys for €400-500 and use those as a base as a private system builder simply can't go that low :o

In any case, you can easily save a few bob by dropping CPU down to the E6500 and PSU to the Antec Basiq 350W - not great but plenty for this super-basic system. You could also getting away with dropping the graphics card if you're not gaming (if you were you'd need something a lot better!). For just desktop graphics the integrated video should suffice, if you need some level of HD capability get the cheapest Asus G41 instead.

Are you even sure you'd need speakers on such a build? Lots of people use their pre-existing headphones...
