None of this would have happened if we voted no to Lisbon.

So its all FFs fault for bullying and manipulating the weak-minded individuals of our great country into changing their vote.

FF should Fcuk off and stop ruining our country.

The sh1t was still going to fly, whether we voted yes to Lisbon or not, but I do agree with your last sentence.

I really wish people would stop moaning about 'the poor ordinary people of greece'. The reason they are in so deep is that the vast majority of them refuse to pay the correct amount of tax. The reason the tax burden is so high is that the government can only rely on a small number to actually pay. They dug this hole, let them lie in it.

(and dont get me started on someone named 'Baaa' critising the herd..) if the silent majority is happy, thats what democracy is all about...

Eh this has nothing got to do with houses and order.
This is all about the deliberate manipulation of the markets, regulators are neither here nor there when most of western europes economies are simply uneconomic due to soverign debt.
That is some not all to do with it. Greece loses an estimated 30 billion per year on uncollected tax revenue. 30 billion. Tax evasion is endemic in the place. The EU loses out on subsidies paid out on crops that dont exist. The public sector overspend is mad. Anyone moaning about our civil service take note. Not even close. They were borrowing to beat the band to cover these losses that they could have clawed back, but didnt as it wasnt politically expedient. They also went mad with the countries credit card spending a fortune on all sorts of projects that went overbudget(the olympics as an example)If that isnt a house in disarray then I dunno what is. Imagine FF on crack handing out same to the developers and everyone else in Ireland and you may get close.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    "We'll fight back"

That's the spirit you heroic Socialist people! Go on a rampage, burn buildings, kill your fellow country men in the process! How dare your government and the EU try to control your outrageous debt which is crippling your country! How dare a country like Ireland borrow money to give to you so as to get you out of this self-acquired mess!! Who do the Irish people think they are recognising that Ireland's debt needs to be brought under control?

They are raising the retirement age to a massive 63!! FFS ours is going to 67 and has been 65 for years, and this is an example of savage cuts? Greeks need to cop the fcuk on.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

In fariness Greece both Repelled and then Defeated the Persian Empire.

Meanwhile theres an Urban Legend that Canada unconditionally surrendered to a boat of Irishmen. And I don't even need to elaborate on the 'Plantations'.

Not to mention the stellar record of public protest, that I shouldn't need to elaborate on; but there's always been a lot of that "What's the point" attitude around these here boards.

"This is Greece, not Ireland, We'll fight back" may sting, but theres some truth in it.

Interesting piece just on Channel 4 news - a German politician had to basically admit they were also at fault for lending Greece - with knowledge of their insufficient tax raising, etc - all that money over the years.

The question is why wasn't something done about this sooner - prevention being better than cure? Sure Greece cooked their books when things got too bad, but it doesn't look good for Germany or the powers that be in Brussels that this was allowed to happen. Hence the markets reacting so badly.

Protesting is fair enough but they're destroying their own country now, they've completely lost the plot over there

I dont need to protest, I made a fortune selling mortgages to underpriviladged children and got out when the going was good.

If I was you I would be hopping mad though

we can be paying 100% tax on our incomes and what will us Irish do? Go down the pub, moan about it and thats it. We are being robbed by europe/euro/FF. We do nothing. No protests, nothing. Just get on with it, bending over and asking where shall we take it next?

Seems the riots are starting again tonight in Greece.

There is an apathy in Ireland... fueled by the greed of the Celtic tiger years... many people here would rather quietly hope that what our 'leaders' are doing will lead to salvation and save their mortagages and materialistic luxuries.

Seems like Ireland sold it's soul to the devil and has lost all will to justifiably rebel against subjugation.

Nothing to be honest, by myself i cant do much. I just have to get on with it. To be honest im thinking of leaving the country. If the water charges and property tax come in then its curtains for me here.

Ive been on 3 day weeks, taken a huge pay decrease, have the tax increases too. Im currently taking a break from it all abroad trying to figure out my future.

We're too calm and relaxed to be wondering the streets looking for attention, though when it is needed there will be no lack of hands.

We should take back the money we lent them for those comments! :p Can't they pick on another country, they really seem to have some kind of beef with us!:(

It's coz we're better looking and can drink more... look at that Stavros Flatley - he epitomises their jealously towards us. ;)

You're sunning yourself on a foreign holiday and you have the nerve to moan about your plight?? What, you can only take 2 holidays this year instead of the usual 4? FFS, it's about time some people got real.

You're jumping to some wild assumptions there... that's not what the poster said nor implied.

And why shouldn't someone go abroad on a break? It's cheaper than staying here.

Well see the state would dole out food stamps, which pubs would redeem for alcohol.

Kind of like Star Trek and replicator rations.

I'd rather people were moaning down the pub than burning innocent people to death.
