Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was looking at his feedback and it is for mostly selling cheap stuff so could all be a set up for this scam???

Looks like a fake, I've seen that pic of stadium events a few times. At best you'll get the PAL version which isn't rare at all, it's the NTSC one that commands a fortune.

Definitely fake. Why would he list it now if he was on holiday and couldn't take a picture of the actual item? Hmmm.

Seems that no matter how obvious a scam, people are willing to take the risk 'just in case'.

I'll probably eat those words now in a few days when this turns out to be legit :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,426 ✭✭✭Roar

what was so important that he had to put a game up on ebay while on holidays??

I can't imagine this is legit. Poor spelling, poor grammar, no photos, and an update bit of information when people obviously started emailing him to say the pic was an old one..

    Scamtastic..

To be honest I'm suprised he didn't mention a dead African prince in there too.

Maybe that's where he found the game :D

well mabye he got it so cheap because he buys is directly fro the supplier and wants to bring the discounts he gets to consumers

It is over £770 now. Crazy money!!

I suppose if you are going to rip off ebay you may as well do it big!

What is to stop you closing you paypal account and bank account/credit card it is linked to and taking the money straight after the sale???

It takes a little while for the money to clear once you've received it into your paypal account. New ebay users can't withdraw any money at all until the buyer has confirmed they have received the item.

That's why the scammer guy who I bought Radiant Silvergun from said he couldnt post it for two weeks. Was just to give himself enough time to withdraw the money. Scumbag.

Excuse me while I go plot his doom.

    Sorry to hear that mate

Did you get your money back from paypal??

I got ripped off £5 once but that is about it on ebay

Ah yeah, lucky for me, someone left him really bad feedback. I saw that, contacted them and they told me how he tried to scam them out of money for a ps3.

So I left it a week and then filed a paypal dispute. He has 20 odd days to respond and didn't. So I got a full refund \o/

Weird, he made his feedback private after I mentioned the neg he got. Just checked now and it's not private anymore. Interesting.

Chelsea to win the Premiership and FA Cup....oh wait.

    I will say 1500.

So this person will basically be betting 1500 that it's no a scam.

If it is a scam, they'll get their money back through paypal eventually.

    If it's not a scam, they'll have a 40,000 dollar game for 1500 euro.

    /puts in a bid

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭Warren3

when you put it like that it sounds quite appealing.

I reckon it will go for £4,000

If the american one went for $14,000 there will be someone willing to take the risk

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,886 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I bet at the very best he will get a PAL version. I don't know how a person from europe would have the NTSC version since it was only on sale for a day before it was pulled from stores. The PAL version isn't worth the steam off my piss.

That's exactly right, if you've got the money it's worth the gamble. Buyers are protected by Paypal, all he/she stands to lose is 'time'.

Doing a quick Tineye search, it seems the same image can be seen on multiple eBay auctions for the same game, as well as several other sites that simply talk about the game:

Wow, would you look at that, I just found a sealed copy in my attic. Here's a picture -

    stadiumevents.jpg

I'll let it go for six grand if anyone wants it?

That is a coincident as I actually found 2 sealed version of that game at my local car boot sale................

i was always wondering how easy is it to "reseal" a game? liek put new shrinkwrap on it, I use a vacum packer and if its anything like that I'd say its not too hard to get a mint copy of a game and turn it inot a sealed game

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,162 ✭✭✭Augmerson

Yeah it wouldn't be too hard to put a seal on a game but putting it the right way might be. I bought Jet Set Radio for the DC last year and it was sealed, cost feck all but when I got it I knew it had been resealed and not a great job done at that. It's around the corners is where you can tell if it's genuine or not. If it's got alot of extra plastic and sticking out, kind of flappy then it's just resealed.

The only thing though is that people who collect sealed games know exactly what they should look like. They can spot a reseal a mile off.

I actually remember seeing one video on youtube where a guy received a resealed game. They opened it up and it even had a completely different (worthless) game inside.

Nice Idea if your good at resealing, although I'd say the boxes are as rare as the carts themselves:rolleyes:

Plus don't most sealed games have the plastic tag for hanging them on a shelf? Wouldn't be too easy to make one of them and get it on to the shrinkwrap.

I think a few different manufacturers have seals on games you can't replicate. Fairly sure boxed Nintendo stuff did.

Now if you could just replicate old boxes..we know where Air Raid looks like now. Just some tea bags for ageing and you're sorted :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 170 ✭✭osprey

I am the proud owner of 3 re-seals, via eBay. Felt like such an idiot:(, at the time it never occured to me that people would re-seal an old game. As stated above, after time you can spot them a mile off.
One of them was The Secret Of Monkey Island for the A500 .... Beleive me, there's a scammer for every category on eBay.
