Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Ok I have a Renault car and we only have one key card, the other one broke shortly after we bought the car. No problem as it was just the spare anyway. Well today the other one broke today. Now I cant lock my car at all. What am I going to do? I can drive the car but the lock button will no longer depress, iykwim.

I remember a taxi driver telling me the name of a place up North but I cant remember. Does anyone know the name of the place?? Or even if there is a place in Dublin or surrounds that does them.

Is there not a metal key inside the card that operates the passenger door from the outside? AFAIK there's a small cover over the keyhole that can be used. Lock the rest of the doors from inside then lock the passenger door with the key...

Then a quick phone call to Blanch Renault or Liffey Valley Renault I suppose.

There's a guy in Galway who repairs those cards......post one to him at a time, and he'll get you back on the road i reckon.

I'll pm the number to you..

Lock the car from the inside then get out one of the rear doors, the central locking shouldn't automatically open then.

Last time I got one replaced it was about €300, but depending on how it broke it may be repairable. Does the key rattle when you shake it?

Have a look at the old reliable:

There are 2nd hand cards available that I am sure you can get re-programmed. There are also services advertised here offering repairs.

Dannybuoy, Thanks for that, I always wondered what that key was for. I was trying to put the key in the little hole that takes off a cap and then underneath that is the key hole (women, huuh,) . Thats going to have to do for now.

    Pounder, cheers, see pm.

Ciaran, yes it does rattle. We have dismantled the old one and we can see the problem, the clicker for the lock button isn't secured greatly, but we dont want to take this one apart, just in case. I rang LV and Service doesnt open today so they have my number to ring me back on Monday. Climbing over the seats is not an option for me as im 31 weeks pregnant.

RR, I will do that as a very last resort. Thanks.

What the most annoying thing about this is that im hoping to get rid of the car soon and now I have to go and spend money on it. Just done the tax the other day for the minimum 3 months. Now it looks like im going to have to spend another few bob, always the wya.

    Thnaks for all your ideas.

He also repaired the display when it died. I've a 04 Scenic if anyone wants a good car that's had the major faults fixed :)
