Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Recommend an MP3 for My Car

I was unsure whether to post this in the Motors forum or here but I think this forum makes more sense (don't want to fall foul of the mods ;)). Basically I've got a 2005 Volkswagen Passat who's CD player is knackered. As a result I'd like to buy an MP3 player that I can hook up to it. The only problem is that it doesn't have a tape player so I can't run one of those endless tapes through it.

I've got a profound dislike for Apple products so I'd rather not go down the IPod + ITrip route.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I saw a radio in aldi yesterday for 49 euro which looked very good ,sd card and usb slot and the all important aux in,which enables you to connect straight into your mp3 player.I wouldn't go down the fm transmitter route because it is often terrible in my experience.

For mp3 player you could maybe go for a Sony which are always great for sound or a Sansa clip which gets thumbs up from other posters on here

What kind of connectivity does your radio have? I agree that FM transmitters aren't a very good option - I found the Belkin TuneCast that I had really killed any bass in the song and just sounded pretty bad overall (since it's transmitting at 64kbps). If you have an AUX-in port, then an MP3 would be good but otherwise I'd say get a radio with a USB port and a cheap flash-drive.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like I will have to replace the radio. The one that's in the car at the moment is the one that came with the car (I assume) and there are no connectors on the front.
