Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was a yellow, t'was at speed and he committed a bit too much even when it was out of reach.

neither guy actually got the ball but the yellow was fair as he went in studs up in what was (although nothing bad happened in the end) a wreckless challenge.

Villa need a change now to try freshen it up.

Job done for Drogba. Time for Anelka to hold the ball up and create some chances.

We need to freshin it up and Anelka comes on for Chelsea ugh if only we had such an option instead of an unfit heskey being the most likely sub. Wouldent mind seing the Fonz get a chance

Doesn't matter what villa do imo, Chelsea are great at defending 1-0 leads.

    This match is over.

It was Heskey, but I thought we'd keep Carew and take off a defender

Malouda is on fire this year.

    GET IN!

1st half we were poor, Villa should have had a peno.

2nd half we were good, Drogba was excellent. Three good goals. :)

Ballack was brilliant when he came I thought.

Fair play to Chelsea, their cutting edge and finishing made it again. 3-0 was very flattering for them but even though Villa played well, we never created the chances to win it

I think its as much that the Villa heads dropped before the 2nd than just them being out on their feet or whatever people will say. Villa had been doing okay but created nothing they looked like they had accepted defeat and Chelsea knew this and punished them.

I agree with Des the Chelsea double looks a strong possibility

im actually in some small way happy because atleast we didnt lose after Extra time. Villa have gone out of both cups at very late stages only due to Utd and Chelsea and the reasons why and what needs to be improved upon in the Villa squad is relatively obvious even just from those two matches imo. Villa did not score a goal from open play in either match and although we were unlucky not to get another penalty today scoring and creating goals needs to seriously be addressed just as our defensive problems were last Summer.

Same old sh1t. Simply not good enough. No creativity, never looked like scoring and nothing on the bench to change it.

Fair play to Chelsea, they deserved the win.

The thing is I don't think it's the whole team that get's tired. Alot of it is Petrov getting tired and then we lose the midfield battle. We need a defensive midfielder who can battle and chase down for the whole game not just 60 or 70 minutes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

Ashley Young has the beating of nearly any defender but his final balls today left alot to be desired.

How can a premiership team run out of steam after 60mins?

I'm not buying that. Villa aren't involved in Europe so how could it be tiredness?

    Chelsea were just far superior.

probably something to that alright. certainly no reason for the likes of downing, milner, young, agbonlahor to be unable to play a full match a a good tempo.

Cos MON never rotates and rarely uses subs.

Well today we were outnumbered against Chelsea's midfield.

It's not the first time it's caused us problems. Petrov is a very good player and does his role well, but you can see that coming to the end of games, it gets easier and easier for players to get past him and he does less to get back into position after players get past him

Edit: I'm not saying it's all the reason for the result, our lack of cutting edge was a cause too. But it's something that we need to work on

Wait till you start rotating and using subs!

PS. Meant as a general point, not a MON point.
