Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey folks,

I have an output from HDMI (a UPC Mediabox) that I want to convert to RGB or Composite (for a Slingbox - that only has, been spending the afternoon doing some reading up, and decided to default back to you folks in the HE Forum to see what recommendations you guys may have.

Preferably, I'd like to spend my money in Ireland rather than Amazon/eBay - so any suggestions where to pick something up here (Dublin) would be fantastic.

    Many thanks!

    Dave

very unusual cable. i'd doubt you'd pick one up in Dublin, its a very specialised cable. you could try maplin but i doubt it. its used in multiroom installs so you could try ring a few custom install companies and see if they'd be able to get you one. although most of them make their money on labour and not product so im not sure how successful you'll be! i think online is your best bet.

does the UPC box have any other outputs apart from HDMI? if its only for a slingbox theres no point in using HDMI anyway

    Dave,

I think your spends will have to cross some water for that one!

The UPC box has a scart for RGB but it will only output via scart or hdmi, not both. So the only way to use the sling box would be to connect a scart into the tv and piggyback into the sling. They supply the cable to do that but of course then you are only getting sd on your hdtv tv, :(

I may be wrong here but using the scart may be ok if you are viewing the sd channels as your hd tv should have some up scaling capabilities which may be better than the up scaling capabilities on the upc box.

(I have the upc hd box and just got a slingbox. Wish UPC would allow us to use both connections at the same time).
