Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Petrol Leak Baby Benz A140

    The wife's A140 has a very strong smell of petrol, [S.Holmes] probably a leak [/S.Holmes]. It has only occurred in the last couple of days. I think it leaks while driving rather than parked. Are there any common places to check before I it take it to the garage? I am not a terribly skilled at repairs. Any advice appreciated.

    I'd get it checked asap ideally without driving it before someone who knows what they are at has a look. Something like someone flicking a cigarette butt in the cars direction could result in a fire. Potentially a very dangerous situation.

    There's an indie mechanic a few klicks away so I took it to him. I don't fancy getting out of my depth and maybe setting fire to the car. If the fire didn't kill me, her indoors would.

    Turns out it was a split in the flexible pipe just at the tank. The mechanic said that it wasn't the original and that it wasn't the correct replacement part either. He said it was the pipe from a diesel model and it was not suitable for use with petrol. The whole thing was perished. Anyway back on the road again for €50 including the part. Could have been a lot worse.
