Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Does it work??

i have a small leak in my radiator :( so small that a mechanic could'nt find it!! so loosing coolant at a rate of having to top it up approx. every 2-3 weeks.
could a rad seal solve the problem?? how does it work?? (obviously, blocks the leak) but can it cause any other problems?

My mate's dad works in the rad business repairing rads etc. They say that rad seal is the number 1 agent for them! It doesn't just seal the hole but blocks up the whole rad. Not good! You'd be much better off bringing it to someone in your area who repairs them with soulder.

Could well be leaking only when the engine is running. Are you sure it's the rad that's leaking and not any of the coolant hoses? If so it's probably better to get it soldered or recored.

yea i thought something like that might happen all right. i wasnt sure if rads could be repaired successfully though. would a general mechanic do rad repairs?? or would i have to go to some specialist?
on the good side, there are no other problems once i keep the coolant topped up, i.e no overheading for anything. its just annoying and something i'd like fixed up.

do you have any idea how much a rad repair would cost???

i got a service done last month, and they did a presure test on the engine, and i asked them to find the leak, but they could'nt. they suggested rad seal.
i would have thought if was from any hoses or hose connections they would spot it fairly handy

You would have to give it to a specialist.

There is a product called Nova Stop. It is dearer than most but quite good.

Don't be tempted to put in more than is advised as this can cause blockages..

There is little point taking out the rad if you can't see the leak.

Unfortunately if you cannot see the leak it may be internal in the engine, possible waterpump failing or a rubber hose lose somewhere
