Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Am I allowed to recommend a garage here? I was recently quoted €600 by Renault Airside to repair the window regulator on my 04 Megane. I subsequently got it done, along with 2 new perilli tyres for €390 in another garage! I am so happy with the price, speed and honesty that I just want to recommend them. And where did I find them....Tenderme.ie! If I'm aollowed I will post it...If not PM me.

    thanks
    Trev

My window regulator also went for the second time in less than two years and airside Renault didn't want to know. So I contacted Renault ireland and told them I was a good customer (6 renaults to date), this was thesecond time the same window had failed, this model has a widely acknowledged window regulator failure record etc etc. It took some persistance on my behalf ie 7 phonecalls but in the end, as a goodwill gesture, Renault said they'd pay 75 per cent of the cost with me paying a hundred towards getting it fixed. I was happy enough with this.

As for Airside Renault, Bill Cullen should pay more attention to his business as the staff there are none too polite, bordering on rude. That's the impression of a number of people I know who've bought cars there or went for a service

hey Trev, can you PM me?? i see your not too far from me so would be handy if its local.

    thanks

Rude alright! It was hard enough to get them to just prop up the window with a piece of wood...and for the privlidge I was charged €100! Bill will need to be careful. If I help just one person from getting screwed by them, and help the honest guys a bit I will be happy.

Everything that has gone wrong with my Renault so far seems to be built in on purpose so as to keep their garages in business. Fuse board under the car just to let water get in and light plastic components so that the windows fail after 3 years.

Post it up sure, we have enough threads badmouthing garages so there's no harm in a little praise once you aren't a shill or spammer :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭freddie

Well I don't think I'm a Spammer...Just love a good honest deal! The garage is Coby Auto and they are at the RedCow. I was quoted near to €600 in three seperate places so was very surprised. I tried to buy the part and nobody stocked it, not even the specialised regularor suppliers. Coby got it sorted in an afternoon. Hope they are of help.

OP seeing as you have listed in your profile the following....

    "About freddie

    History
    a car sales man"

I would imagine that a previous car sales man would know where to get a car fixed/have contacts in the business and wouldn't be surprised about the costs of a main dealer v. an indy garage.

Edit: And, in my opinion, your post just above mine stinks of a shill. "you just love a good honest deal" and "I tried to buy the part and nobody stocked it, not even the specialised regularor suppliers. Coby got it sorted in an afternoon"

    stinks to high heaven imo.

I can assure you I am far from a car sales man...That’s funny, I put that down because when I was setting up my boards account it asked for, what I presumed was the history of my nickname ( I was nicknamed after my car salesman uncle)

kool wreck a mend and they'll fix it ,:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭freddie

Well I don’t know what to say, or how to prove I'm not a "shill". All I can say is I do love a good deal, I am delighted I found an honest garage after being ripped off so many times and I did try to buy the part myself from window regulator suppliers who showed up through Google searches. Sorry if I am being naive about what goes on...but your making me paranoid about my way of writing! I have no connection to them only that they fixed my car at the weekend and I was impressed.

When my window broke I searched but couldnt find any useful recommendations on Boards so decided to add my own.

The History section of the boards profile means where did your username come from.

Your challange....A regulator for a 2004 Megane Dynamique coupe driver side. I'm telling you I tried them all. A lot presumed they would have them but when they looked in their system they couldnt get it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,817 ✭✭✭Stevie Dakota

Is the Megane weakspot the regulator or the motor?

When the window gives up how do you know which part has failed?

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭freddie

    Sorry alexmcred
I wasnt paying attention and didnt see your link. Yes they look like the ones. I dont think I found that site in my origional search, but at the time I was told I definatly needed a motor and wireing aswell so maybe ignored it. I might call them to see if it does infact fit the Coupe as some of the other sites said the same, but when I called they said it wouldnt work.

Am I been tested until proven innocent? I feel hunted!

Thanks Bonito...yes it is the history of username. For such a stupid thing it is causing a pain!

    Stevie Dakota

I was told by Renault that water got in and the motor, wireing and mechanism needed to be replaced. It turned out that I only needed the mechanism itself and this is the most common. It is apparently just a small cheap white piece of plastic in there which breaks and causes the damage. you can change it yourself before it happens.

This is taken from another forum and explains

It clearly says the guys occupation is a product designer...

Jeez with this kind of response you'd be afraid to open your mouth in here!

  • Registered Users Posts: 131 ✭✭freddie

    Thanks Michael 09

Yes I will think twice about recommending anything on here again! Its not like I'm trying to sell something. If you need a part or repair just ring around and get a quote. I'm just saying I rang around, got a good quote and wanted to pass my experience around. For my effort....I get every word and comment analysed and disected!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,817 ✭✭✭Stevie Dakota

What do you mean 'disected'? ;)

    brilliant!

Just to add a bit of balance , my only experience of coby's wasn't brilliant . I bought tyres oneiretyres. They are listed as a fitter so picked them as they were handy for me. They wouldn't honour the price quoted on eiretyres and just said it was nothing to do with them. Not sure whether it was them or eiretyres but they weren't appologetic at all.
